Trivia: The first "Scream" movie directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first, second and fourth films, and was involved in a producing capacity on the other three films. It is also only Williamson's second film as a director, with his first being 1999's dark comedy "Teaching Mrs. Tingle." Ironically, Williamson directing "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" is the main reason he wasn't able to write the script for "Scream 3."
Trivia: Based on an unpublished book by Chris Tougas.
Trivia: This film was originally announced as "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" with Destin Daniel Cretton attached to direct and Jonathan Majors playing the main antagonist Kang. After Majors was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Marvel severed ties with him and temporarily referred to the film as "Avengers 5." Cretton left to focus on the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The Russo Brothers were announced as the new directors at San Diego Comic Con 2024.
Trivia: The film was a passion project for writer/director/star Mark Fischbach. Fischbach is a popular YouTuber who goes by the name "Markiplier" and was an enormous fan of the original video game. He financed the movie with his team and made it independently with assistance from the creators of the game. It was originally going to be a limited release, but the project and Fischbach's popularity caused interest to soar, and he was able to secure a wide domestic and international release.
Trivia: Director Christophe Gans has stated that his original director's cut was over two hours, but the producers made him cut it down to approximately 100 minutes. The director's cut contained more scenes and subplots, including another scene featuring Eddie and a bit more Pyramid Head, and is said to have a slower, more deliberate pace. Gans has stated he would like to release a director's cut one day, but is unsure if he can.
