NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service

Suspicion - S4-E12

Continuity mistake: When Gibbs and the team meet the sheriff and ask to be shown the crime scene, he states that it was in the Edenvale motel room 8. In the opening scene the door that the gentleman knocked on and subsequently got his feet covered in blood from the body bleeding out was room 1. (00:00:50 - 00:04:05)

Sharif Returns - S4-E13

Visible crew/equipment: When Gibbs is on the phone with Sharif, Gibbs asks him, "Who were they? Wife? Family?" and just as he says the word "wife" we can see an actor's red tape mark on the floor at the corner of DiNozzo's desk, which wasn't there a minute earlier when McGee walked over to DiNozzo. (00:31:30 - 00:32:45)

Sharif Returns - S4-E13

Continuity mistake: When Sharif calls Gibbs to gloat, when Sharif ends the call, the shot cuts to Gibbs closing his cell phone, shot cuts to McGee and Col. Mann, when it cuts back to Gibbs, he is closing his phone again. We can even hear the phone close both times. (00:33:10)

Sharif Returns - S4-E13

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Gibbs chases Shariff into the railway station restroom, Gibbs' position on The Wall changes, his gun hand passes the corner of The Wall at least three times. Also as he starts to fall to the floor, the long shot from low angle close to the urinals shows Gibbs holding the gun with both hands and they are moving to his right, his left shoulder going into he wall. At the cut, the gun is in his right hand only and moving across his body to the left and his right shoulder is now going into The Wall. The shot cuts to Shariff, who has moved about a foot to his right during the cut, then cuts back to both Gibbs and Shariff, Shariff has returned to his original position and the gun has moved to Gibbs left hand, although we don't really see the gun until he falls and Shariff picks it up, thus ruling out the possibility of the gun being dropped before he falls. (We do hear the gun hit the floor as he falls.) (00:40:10)

Dead Man Walking - S4-E16

Factual error: The inspector is suffering from thallium poisoning. However, everyone is using various radiation detection methods to detect the thallium. Natural thallium is not radioactive. Of the artificial thallium, the only with a half-life long enough to last long enough to pose a problem is too weakly radioactive to be a significant hazard.

Suggested correction: No. We see in the closeup Ziva David writing her name, and the shot cuts away just as she starts to write the last "d" in David (timecode 00:28:00).

Iceman - S4-E18

Character mistake: We see Cpl O'Neill's name on the plasma at the start. However when looking at Ducky's notes it's spelt O'Nell. Not a mistake Ducky would make. (00:03:15)

Other mistake: Abby gets a match off a fingerprint and we see the plasma displaying the match. However the right hand side has no fingerprint to be matched to. (00:21:50)

Yankee White - S1-E1

Gibbs: I heard you quit, Agent Todd.
Kate Todd: Happy news travels fast. Yes, I resigned. It was the right thing to do.
Gibbs: Yep. Pull that crap at NCIS, I won't give you a chance to resign.
Kate Todd: Is that a job offer?

Show generally

Question: I finally saw the 2-part episode from the show JAG. Does anyone know what happened to Viv Blackadder? I don't recall hearing anyone ever mention the name on NCIS.

Answer: I hadn't seen the backdoor pilots yet but while it wasn't explicitly stated, at least onscreen, I heard somewhere Vivian got either fired from NCIS due to jeopardizing a case, got resigned from the agency, or transferred to the FBI.

Answer: I dont believe it is ever mentioned, but like most pilot episodes the characters are often changed, replaced or even removed in this case.
