Trivia
The show originally premiered as "Navy: NCIS", and ran with that title for the first season. Beginning with season 2, the title was shortened to just "NCIS", after the producers convinced CBS (the network had insisted on the longer title) that "Navy: NCIS" was redundant, since the "N" in "NCIS" stands for "Naval". Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2003) - 108 mistakes in entire show
starring David McCallum, Lauren Holly, Mark Harmon (add more)
Continuity: Agent Todd is standing there coat open, hands in her pockets on Air Force One watching Gibbs walk away when the bad guy who is a reporter (Leonard) comes up to her and comments "Loosening your dress code Kate". When she turns around to indicate that he should return to the press section her coat is now seen to be buttoned up.
Plot hole: Towards the end of the episode, whilst agents Gibbs and Todd are in a toilet cubicle talking, a reporter convulses. People, including the Secret Service, rush to his side. In view of the previous death of the ball carrier, there is no way the Secret Service would leave the President unprotected.
Other: Tony, the self confessed film buff, had not seen Shane or heard of Alan Ladd when talking about drinking sarsaparilla.
Factual error: While the NCIS crew are working a crime scene, Ducky starts yet another parable about his past experiences, referring to the dating of an Indian skeleton by the caliber of the bullet, "a 40-75". He states that since he knew the year that the US Army used that caliber, he could accurately date the remains. Unfortunately for Ducky, the US Army never used a 40-75. It did, however authorize a contract for a 45-70 cartridge in 1873.
