Homer and Apu - S5-E13

Continuity mistake: Apu grabs the ham and crosses out of the expiration date with a thick black marker. When he places the ham on the shelf the black marker cross out is gone and the writing on the pack looks perfectly printed as before.

Bart vs. Australia - S6-E16

Character mistake: Burkina Faso is listed as being among the Southern Hemisphere locations Bart called when Homer is looking over the phone bill; since Burkina Faso is completely within the Northern Hemisphere, it would have made no sense for Bart to call there.

Suggested correction: It may not make sense, but Bart isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. In this same episode, he looked at his globe and thought Rand McNally was a country and was convinced by Lisa that the citizens there wear hats on their feet and that hamburgers eat people. Additionally, he could have just decided to prank call someone there if for no other reason than he thought the name of the country was funny.

Entirely possible, but since Bart had a globe right there to refer to, even someone with his limited geographical knowledge would have been able to tell that Burkina Faso is in the Northern hemisphere, unlike the other locations he did call as depicted in the montage (Antarctica, Argentina, unspecified South American nation, etc).

Using his globe to determine which countries to call does not negate the possibility of him also calling a number in Burkina Faso for whatever reason suited him. It's ultimately a character decision and not a mistake.

Dancin' Homer - S2-E5

Continuity mistake: When Mr Burns and Smithers are standing outside Springfield Stadium, Mr Burns says to Smithers, "Put a little smile on his card" and Smithers is writing it down with a pencil in his left hand. When the Simpsons arrive in the next shot, the pencil has changed into another piece of paper.

Dancin' Homer - S2-E5

Continuity mistake: When Bart says to Homer that he's on "Jumbo-Vision", the man behind Homer is drinking from a paper cup with a straw, but when we see Homer on the screen, the paper cup has disappeared.

Pay Pal - S25-E21

Continuity mistake: When Homer sits down at the breakfast table with Marge, there is nothing in Marge's cup. In the next shot, a spoon suddenly appears, and after a quick cut to Homer, we return to them both and the spoon has gone again.

Pay Pal - S25-E21

Continuity mistake: When the students have to practice square dancing in the gym, Lisa spots a male student and there is a red circle next to her on the floor where she is standing. When the teacher tells Lisa she has to dance with groundskeeper Willie, the circle has disappeared.

Pay Pal - S25-E21

Continuity mistake: When Lisa arrives home after her parents gave the boy a party, she parks her bicycle near the path. When Lisa sees the boy with make-up on his face in the next shot, the bicycle is on the grass.

Pay Pal - S25-E21

Continuity mistake: When Lisa and Tumi have finished their square dancing, there is nothing to the left of the basketball stand, but when Lisa and Tumi are talking in the next shot, three balls have appeared.

The Cartridge Family - S9-E5

TV Announcer: The Continental Soccer Association is coming to Springfield. It's all here: fast kicking, low scoring. And ties? You bet.
Bart: Hey Dad, how come you've never taken us to see a soccer game?
Homer: I don't know.
TV Announcer: You'll see all your favorite soccer stars. Like Arriaga, Arriaga II, Barriaga, Aruglia, and Pizzozza.
Homer: Oh, I've never heard of those people.
TV Announcer: And they'll all be signing autographs.
Homer: Woohoo!
TV Announcer: This match will determine once and for all which nation is the greatest on Earth. Mexico or Portugal.

Tree House of Horror V - S6-E6

Question: Homer travels back in time and causes changes by what he does in the past, like stepping on a bug. I once saw a movie with the same basic plot: some people travel back in time and are told to be careful not to disturb anything, but when they return to their time everything has changed. In the end they discover it was because they stepped on a butterfly. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

Answer: I'm not sure if this is the one you're thinking of, but an episode of "Ray Bradbury Theatre," called "A Sound of Thunder," dealt with a similar matter: a group of hunters travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs, only to find things have changed when they get back because someone stepped on a butterfly.
