Answer: It sounds like they're fake-threatening to damage the doll, like pulling its head off, or something to that effect. Naturally, Gertie would be upset.

Question: Why don't we ever see Maryann, the girl from the pilot, in other episodes?

Answer: It's typical for TV shows to undergo changes and be retooled after the initial pilot episode. Some characters are deleted while others are added, depending on how producers evaluate what does and doesn't work, how test audiences react, how well the actors work with one another, cast salaries, and so on. The Marianne character was probably dropped for one of those reasons and the Dylan character was added later.

Aliens (1986)

Question: When the Marines first enter the hive and encounter the cocooned colonist, at what point would she have been trapped there before the chestburster emerged?

Answer: As seen in the first Alien movie, once infected, the gestation period seems to be a matter of a few days. However, considering that Newt appeared to have been alone for a period of time, the colonists may have been cocooned for a longer period before the alien queen "impregnated" them.

Answer: No one can say for sure. In the first movie I don't think we really know how long Kane had the facehugger on him before they rescued him, so with this colonist, she could have been there for months.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

Question: Is it possible to see Hermione when they are all sleeping in the great hall?

Answer: Unlikely she would be seen. The boys would be separated from the girls. I watched the YouTube clip, and there didn't appear to be any girls sleeping in the Great Hall, at least not in that section of it.

I will add that in the books, its stated that "the three of them" grabbed a sleeping bag and moved to a corner. So while we may not see her in the movie, in the books she was present with Ron and Harry.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

Question: When Katniss goes in for her individual assessment, Peeta is exiting the room after finishing his and he seems to be in a daze while walking out, almost seemingly pretending not to acknowledge Katniss walking in. Was that intentional as to not give any hints to Katniss about what he did (painting Rue) too early or to not raise any kind of suspicion to Plutarch et al watching?

Answer: There's no definitive answer to this. It appears that Peta is non-verbally signaling to Katniss that there is something ahead she might react to rather than pretending not to acknowledge her. There is no reason why he would not acknowledge her or be concerned about raising anyone's suspicions. He and Katniss are supposed to be engaged, so it would be expected that they would have this type of connection and communication.

The Sound of Music (1965)

Question: Did they use blue screens for this movie? I was watching it recently, and certain scenes looked like the distant background was fake, such as the nighttime scene when Captain Von Trapp confesses his love for Maria in the gazebo, the trees in the far background look superimposed, but I can't tell if that's because of the lighting.

Answer: Although bluescreen was used at the time, it was a photochemical process and not that reliable. For the scene you're describing, it was likely shot in a studio with a painted background. For more expansive night scenes, they shot them "day-for-night." They would be shot on location during the day with the image darkened and filtered to look like night.

Answer: In that era, movies didn't have computer-generated images and instead used a rear-projected screen of a previously filmed location. The actors would be in front of the screen to make it appear as if they were in some different location. The actors were posed in a way that the audience could not tell they were in front of the screen.

Question: Is Cersei Lannister based on Lady MacBeth and Agrippina the Younger? Both were ruthless and ambitious with Agrippina being the mother of Nero. Cersei, mother of Tommen Baratheon. She, on the show, pushed for her son to become king as did Agrippina, so was inspiration drawn from her and Lady MacBeth?

Question: Why wouldn't Bambi's mother tell him that the Great Prince of the Forest is also his father?

Answer: Probably so he would not think he is superior to the other fawns and try to lord over them. She would have told him about his father when he was older. This is also a literary plot device by setting up a dramatic reveal at a crucial time (right after Bambi's mother is killed) that Bambi learns his father is the Great Prince. This has a greater emotional punch.

Answer: She was completely in on it from the beginning and helped Nick carry out his plan. They had been having an affair.

Question: How did Ted Bundy manage to fool law enforcement, and evade them for years before finally being arrested?

Answer: I don't think he fooled police. He was clever and able to commit murders without leaving enough evidence to directly tie him to the crime. Eventually there was enough physical as well as circumstantial and eye witness accounts to convict him. He evaded police for stretches of time by flying under the radar and carefully calculating his moves. Weird writing about this as he terrorized my city.

Question: Was the film supposed to feature an alternate ending involving the Twin Towers before 9/11 happened?

Answer: This is from IGN.com: The original ending: While the movie was in production, terrorists flew two planes in the Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001. Out of respect, the filmmakers cut the ending which saw the World Trade Centre open up to reveal a swarm of Serleena's UFOs. MIB2 wasn't the only movie to remove scenes featuring the World Trade Centre - Spider-Man famously cut a scene in which a helicopter was stuck in a web spun between the two towers.

Question: Since this is the Americanized version of Man About The House from the UK, they copied that show's pilot. So my question is did they get permission to do their pilot like the original show or what?

Answer: There have been a number of U.S. TV shows that are reworked from British series. Producers first have to obtain permission and pay for the rights in order to do an American version.

Question: Why do they use gas lamps in the tunnels when they have electricity?

Answer: They would need to have access to a large amount of electrical wiring, lights, and other supplies to rig a usable lighting system. Using electricity could also drain power from the rest of the camp, alerting the Germans that something is going on.

Also. The power would go out during air raids and the like. Whereas oil could be used to stay lit no matter what (despite the fact that it uses oxygen from the tunnel and the fumes would probably kill you).

Double Jeopardy (1999)

Question: How do we know that he put her in the casket?

Answer: It's obvious it was him. Nick lured Libby to that specific mausoleum, knocked her out, and dragged her into the crypt before closing the doors behind him. He then paid off the kid who acted as a decoy. Nick was motivated to get rid of her (though it was implausible that he would have left her alive before putting her into the casket). There was no-one else who could or would have done that.

Back to the Future (1985)

Question: I always wondered: Is there any footage of Eric Stoltz playing Marty McFly available somewhere?

Answer: The release of the DVD was delayed because of legal issues over the Eric Stoltz footage, which was eventually removed. Stoltz can, in fact, be glimpsed in the final film: in the scene where Marty jumps into the DeLorean to escape the Libyans, that's actually Stoltz.
