Disclosure (1994)

Factual error: "A Friend's" emails sent from the Univ. Of Washington look ridiculous with just some text and an abbreviated name on a colored background. UW emails have a white background, the addresses have a "uw.edu" domain name and show staff name, credentials, title, and department. The UW name, logo, and other info are always included. Prof. Friend's student assistant (son of Tom's co-worker) sent the emails from Friend's office, but he could have sent anonymous ones from any computer using Yahoo, Google, etc.

Bingo - S4-E13

Factual error: When Little Ed is cutting a tooth, Dan tells D.J. to get a frozen waffle for him to teethe on. The waffle D.J. takes out of the freezer is not frozen and is soft and bendy.

Capricorn One (1977)

Factual error: A round-trip voyage between Mars and Earth would take about two years. Although the movie's timeline is compressed, from when the astronauts supposedly leave Earth to them supposedly returning (and dying) and then Caulfield rescuing Brubaker, the entire plot implausibly takes place in only eight months. It is mentioned at the memorial that they "left" Earth eight months earlier. The military memorial is held at least a month after the "tragedy" so that would mean they made the trip in seven months, which is impossible. The film is not set in the future when technology would be more advanced.

Factual error: The balloon that the Union soldiers escape in has no mechanical burner of any type in it that would be needed to keep the craft aloft in the air. A balloon flies by heating the air inside the bag, causing it to rise up. It descend as it cools.

Suggested correction: Gas balloons (using Hydrogen or Helium) large enough to carry passengers were invented in the late 1700s. Gas-filled observation balloons (such as the one in this film) were, in fact, used during the Civil War.

Rear Window (1954)

Factual error: Jeff has been in a cast (for a broken leg) for seven weeks and has been in his apartment for most of that time. He tells his boss that he has one more week before the cast is removed and can then immediately go back on assignment as a photojournalist. By this time he should have been transferred to a walking cast and be using crutches instead of confined to a wheelchair, but he is still wearing a full leg cast that goes up to and around his waist.

The Strain (2014)

Factual error: During the Vengeance's fall to Earth, just after hitting Alcatraz, the saucer section hits the surface of San Francisco Bay, the outer rim diving dozens of meters into the water and its rear lifting up almost vertically into the air. A few seconds later the ship is seen from the onshore view, and it is straight and level and heading directly at Star Fleet Headquarters. Hitting the water at that angle and speed, so close to the shore, the ship could not have righted itself and gotten on that trajectory going that fast. It should have sunk or flipped over when it hit the water. Even if it could flip 360°, there was not enough time, distance, or height for the ship to continue on to its target at that speed. The water's drag would have slowed it too much. (01:52:40)

Suggested correction: Maybe the ship's systems are trying to correct its course.

Mister Roberts (1955)

Factual error: The captain walks through the wheelhouse to the outer deck to water his potted palm tree. Even though the ship is at sea, there is no one on the bridge, and the ship's wheel can be seen through the window, moving back-and-forth, steering the ship by itself. A naval ship, particularly during WWII, would always have a crew at the helm and the wheelhouse would never be left empty.

Factual error: Jonah points to the LP record and tells Sam that "Paul is dead" can be heard when the record is played backwards. He is not holding a Beatles' record, however, as can be seen from the album's label. In the US, the Beatles recorded under Capitol Records, and their labels had a multicolored circular band printed on both sides. This label is red.

Seabiscuit (2003)

Factual error: When Red Pollard is showing the doctor his homemade brace, his bare leg shows no sign of having been nearly severed or undergoing multiple surgeries. There are no scars, atrophied muscles, or discoloration of any kind. In reality, Pollard's leg was permanently disfigured.
