Trivia: Though he became famous as the piano player at Rick's Café Américain, Dooley Wilson, the actor who played Sam, was an experienced musician and bandleader, but not a piano player. He was a drummer, and mimed the piano playing. "As Time Goes By" was dubbed in later.

Trivia: The iconic song "The Time Warp" was not in the original production of the show. It was added to pad out the the 40 minute play to feature film length, along with allowing a dance number to be added to the film. (Source: The Guardian).

Trivia: At one point, the character of William Burke is reading "Weaveworld", by Clive Barker. The character of Candyman was created by Barker in his short story "The Forbidden."

Napoleon Dynamite (2004)

Trivia: Director Jared Hess and actor John Heder were college roommates at BYU. Heder didn't consider himself an actor, but he could relate to the character of Napoleon, so he agreed to be in Hess' short film "Peluca" and the rest is history. (Source: BYU Magazine).

Trivia: Jon Gries (Uncle Rico) actually nailed John Heder in the face with the steak throw. The impact gave Heder two black eyes that are visible in multiple scenes in the film. (Source: Slashfilm).

Trivia: Due to the low budget, most of the wardrobe was found at thrift stores. Napoleon's moon boots were 20 years old and borrowed from Jerusha Hess' uncle, and his glasses were a thrift store find and the prescription made John Heder's vision very uncomfortable. (Source: UTV).

Trivia: During the book burning scene, the Nazi uniforms worn by the extras are real, authentic uniforms. The costume designer, Anthony Powell, located them in Germany and had the extras wear them. (Source: CheatSheet.com).

Trivia: Universal's first choice to direct was Tobe Hooper, who was under contract and considered a better choice. Hooper even wrote two drafts of the screenplay as a horror-comedy, without the shape-shifting elements.
