Trivia: Descendants of Auda abu Tayi sued Columbia Pictures over the portrayal of their ancestor as someone only interested in loot and money. It is true that Auda did join the Arab revolt for monetary reasons at first, but he became a steadfast supporter of Arab independence. The suit went on for over ten years before the plaintiffs finally dropped the case.

Trivia: Oliver Reed (Proximo) died of a heart attack during filming in Malta, before all his scenes had been shot. The Mill created a digital body double for the remaining scenes by photographing a live action body double in the shadows and by mapping a 3D CGI mask of Reed's face onto the digital composite. The estimated cost was $3.2 million for two minutes of additional footage.

Trivia: In the film, Bligh and Christian meet at the first sailing of the Bounty. In reality, they did not meet until the Bounty sailed from Spithead for Tahiti in December of 1787.

Trivia: Fletcher Christian did not die as a result of a fire on board the Bounty, as shown in the film. He was killed much later by Tahitians during a conflict in 1793.

Trivia: The voice of God giving the Ten Commandments is a chorus of several male voices including, principally, Charlton Heston's and Cecil B.DeMille's, recorded separately with one track laid on top of the other and altered electronically. The other voices in the chorus were those of actor and singer Delos Jewkes and Donald Hayne, DeMille's publicist/biographer.
