Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: When Howard is talking to Jack on the payphone, after blowing up the bus that Jack's friend was driving, Howard says, "I want my money by 11am." Later on when Jack is trying to defuse the bomb when the bus is in the airport, Jack's watch says 5:01pm. We know the time's right as he checked it earlier. (Frame by frame required.) (00:29:10 - 01:11:25)

The-Immortal

Correction: I refer you to the contribution rule that states "If something requires slow motion to spot, chances are it's not a valid mistake, but there are exceptions. For example, a cameraman in shot for a few frames or something else fairly major is worth listing, but a tiny change in position or set wobble that's only noticeable by slowing the shot down won't be listed. Minor mistakes have their place on this site, but they must be noticeable in regular viewing." Please take these things into account before submitting.

Ronin (1998)

Corrected entry: At the end, when Gregor gets shot in the head by Miki, the mark on his forehead is visible, where he is about to get shot. Frame by frame required. (01:43:50)

The-Immortal

Correction: As it says quite clearly in the guidelines, something that requires slow motion to spot is almost invariably not a valid mistake. Read them next time.

X-Men (2000)

Corrected entry: Near the start of the film when Sabretooth comes back without the mutant, Magneto asks, "What happened?" Just after this, when he pulls out the chair, if you watch closely he moves his hand up twice, and the chair moves out twice (slo-mo required). (00:20:25)

The-Immortal

Correction: Requiring the viewer to "watch closely" and to use "slow motion" for a minor repetitive action invalidates mistakes such as this. As it states on the 'Contributions' page, "If something requires slow motion to spot, chances are it's not a valid mistake...but a tiny change in position...that's only noticeable by slowing the shot down won't be listed."

Ronin (1998)

Corrected entry: In the middle of the film when De Niro and the others are in the car going to get Gregor, De Niro says, "He's at the arena," but Gregor hasn't arrived at the arena yet. (00:59:55)

The-Immortal

Correction: Gregor is in a bar which is right beside the arena, to say that's he's "at the arena" would be understood by most people to include the general area. In addition DeNiro would know that Gregor would want to do the exchange in a public place and would assume that if his phone signal is located near the arena then he is headed there.

Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: Howard Payne says to Jack at the beginning when they are talking on the phone, that if the bus drops below 50mph it blows up, so how come when we finally see the bus explode at the airport we see the speedometer on the bomb explode at 50 not below it. (00:28:40 - 01:26:55)

The-Immortal

Correction: Probably because the speedometer on the bus is analogue and the speedometer underneath is digital and more accurate. As soon as the speed hit 49.999 mph it blew up.

shortdanzr

Corrected entry: When Jack is talking with Murtogg and Mullroy, the two then begin to argue amongst themselves, while Jack is in the background sneaking aboard the ship. Mullroy is holding his weapon next to him with the sworded edge, yet when the camera cuts to behind it's nowhere to seen, obviously allowing for the camera. From the front view it's back by his side, it is like this for several shots. (00:12:40)

The-Immortal

Correction: Mullroy's bayonet is visible in all shots, it never disappears. In the two shots facing Interceptor Mullroy holds his fixed bayonet beside his head, directly in front of his right shoulder - at the edge of the left side of the screen, just as in the other shots.

Collateral (2004)

Corrected entry: When dispatch calls Max he says, "Shit," with a physical reaction. The following shot shows him with the same reaction and mouthing the word "shit," but with no sound this time. (00:29:30)

The-Immortal

Correction: That's not a mistake. People sometimes mouth a word without saying it out loud.

Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: On the bus, when Jack is reasoning with the guy who has the gun, the black guy tackles, then struggles with him, and the guy with the gun shoots at Sam (the driver). In slow motion, the glass behind Sam doesn't break away and smash, it only shatters a slight bit. A few shots later, when Annie is driving the bus, the glass is now completely smashed and only a few bits remain in the frame. (00:40:05)

The-Immortal

Correction: Yes this is true, once the glass is shot, it shatters making it is very weak. It would only take a light bump and the whole glass pane would break apart. After all the "action" going on the bus (passengers rushing to help Sam, the bus swerving all over the place) it wouldn't be surprising if the glass pane got knocked out of place.

XIII

Corrected entry: During the first hijacking scene, the hijacker shoots a dart through the glass and into the seat. Some kind of wire or equipment comes out of the truck when he pulls out the window, and it is there in the next shot, but has vanished in the following shot. (00:01:40)

The-Immortal

Correction: The first dart goes through the glass and expands. He uses it to pull the windshield out then shoots another one into the seat to use as a safety wire when he climbs into the truck. This is more evident in the scene where Vince gets caught up in his wire after being shot.

Correction: Speculation, it's not a mistake for someone to realise that they are being approached.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: In the middle of the film, when the pyramid configures itself, trapping everyone in different compartments, Miller and the other guy are talking in one of the compartments, if you notice when the camera cuts to the other guy for the first time, the symbols on the pyramid are on the left of the guy, yet in other shots the symbols are on the right. (00:47:15)

The-Immortal

Correction: If you watch in the overhead shot there are four monuments with the same symbols on each side of the room. No wonder they appear to change sides between the shots.

Mortug

Corrected entry: When all the doors close inside the pyramid, the woman inside the sacrificial chamber tries to put a wedge under the door. There is one box by the door and one next to the wall by the door. Just after the door crushes the box, she moves back, and the box by the wall has vanished, then reappears. ( Slo-Mo maybe required ). (00:40:35)

The-Immortal

Correction: I watched it in slo-mo and as far as I can tell the box is in every shot, except for one where it simply is out of camera angle.

Mortug

Corrected entry: When we see Lex in the whaling station scene, she opens a door to see Weyland with his inhaler, if you notice when she opens the door he is holding it with his right hand, then in the following shot he is holding it with his left. (00:22:20)

The-Immortal

Correction: There is a shot of Lex with enough time for Weyland to put the inhaler in his other hand, which makes sense as he reached for the inhaler lid with the hand he held the inhaler with first.

Gladiator (2000)

Corrected entry: In the middle after the gladiator match in the Roman province arena, Maximus and Proximo are talking in Proximo's place. Maximus starts laughing, and Proximo's position in the room changes dramatically between shots. (01:07:15)

The-Immortal

Correction: He stands on the exact same point in front of the table throughout the shots until we see him walk away from the table.

Gladiator (2000)

Corrected entry: In the scene near the beginning when we see Maximus and Lucilla talking for the first time, after Lucilla says " Maximus stop" for the second time, in one shot Maximus is not facing Lucilla, yet in the following shot he is fully facing Lucilla. (00:28:15)

The-Immortal

Correction: You are being fooled by the camera angle. If you watch closely you can see Lucilla standing in the same spot on the side of Maximus and he is never facing her between the shots.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Corrected entry: When Peter transforms into Spiderman to get to his next delivery quicker, two kids run out into the street. The kids reach the curb, then from Spiderman's perspective, they reach the curb again. (00:04:55)

The-Immortal

Correction: These "repeat scenes" are common movie making/editing techniques. Its purpose is to show exactly what you've just pointed out, to show two scenes shown from two different points of view. These are not movie mistakes.

Spider-Man (2002)

Corrected entry: In the scene near the beginning when Peter does his little trick on the stairs when he's coming down for breakfast, we see Uncle Ben drinking tea/coffee, he looks in Peter's direction, and in the following shot he is looking in his direction again. (00:18:20)

The-Immortal

Correction: Uncle Ben is doing a double take because Peter surprised him just as he was taking a sip of hot coffee.

Troy (2004)

Corrected entry: Near the start when we see Achilles on his ship with his soldiers, the camera cuts to a soldier walking along the rowers, in this shot we don't see the main sail, yet when it cuts to him again coming up to Achilles the main sail is just behind him. We should have been able to see this in the previous shot from the soldiers feet. (00:34:35)

The-Immortal

Correction: When this shot opens the camera is way down low, just at the height of the starboard side rowers. The stern rigging at starboard are visible beside these men, when Eudorus' legs come into view, as he begins walking from the stern towards the bow. As the camera continues to follow Eudorus' legs, the base of the mast - which is farther up on deck, would be wholly impossible to see, because many other men's legs are on deck in front of Eudorus' legs, and because of the unusual angle of this shot. In the next overhead shot, Eudorus has already passed the mast and heads to Achilles at forward deck; and as a side note this does not grate with continuity, because it is unnecessary to see Eudorus walk the entire length of the deck on camera.

Spider-Man (2002)

Corrected entry: At the beginning in the museum scene, in one shot when the class moves on and Peter and MJ are left alone, Peter asks "Can I take your picture? I need one with a student in it." When he begins to take pictures, when the camera cuts to a view of MJ, she is smiling and looking in another direction, not at the camera. (If someone was taking your picture, you would be looking at the camera. MJ is not). (00:09:00)

The-Immortal

Correction: So? I have many times looked away from the camera when someone was taking my picture. If MJ and Peter feels that the picture is better (for instance, more natural than a stiff, posing heads-on shot), it is their choice.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

Corrected entry: In the middle of the film during the attack on Pearl Harbor, some of the Japanese are attacking the smaller airfields. We see Danny, Rafe and a few other pilots speeding away in a car. Various shots in this scene we see that the road goes from grass and dirt to concrete between shots. (01:36:45)

The-Immortal

Correction: Many possible reasons for this. The route from one airfield to the other probably isn't "concrete" all the way. So the different "road" type just suggests that the other airfield isn't easy to get to. Or more simply, they were trying to escape/avoid being shot at. Therefore they got off the road so that they're not easy targets on the road.
