Continuity: In the daytime restaurant scene between Ben Affleck and his wife, the wife tells Ben Affleck that they are going to dinner that evening with two friends, one of whom is Carl and other a woman. However, later that evening the dinner date is with the wife's parents. The wife's father's name is Steve, not Carl.
Factual error: When Sam Jackson removes the lug nuts from Ben Afflecks' Mercedes, Ben's character continues to drive before the wheel comes off. All Mercedes models use wheel lug bolts and once removed, the wheel immediately falls of the hub.
Factual error: When Jackson removes the wheel bolts from Affleck's car and Affleck crashes, the airbags on the Mercedes come out but when Affleck is out of the car the airbags are still fully blown. When airbags are activated in reality they inflate then immediately deflate, the idea being that you hit them as they deflate, cushioning the blow.
Revealing: On the FDR, when Doyle tries to thumb a ride in the rain, the only vehicle using wipers in the 'downpour' is the one that passes Doyle. All the other vehicles in the background driving northbound on the dry FDR are not, and in fact driving beyond the reach of the crew's artificial rain in the foreground.
Visible crew/equipment: Just after Gavin and Doyle's collision, when Gavin is on his cell and says, "Tell them I'm on the steps," in the next shot as the car passes behind Doyle and Gavin, the boom and mic are reflected on the car's surface.
Continuity: When Doyle's car hits the sand-filled barrels, the front tire has a rather small hubcap and the back tire's hubcap is a different style and quite larger. A moment later, when Doyle inspects the damage to the car, in the close-up the front tire now sports an identical hubcap to the back tire.
Visible crew/equipment: After Gavin's second accident on the FDR he walks toward Doyle's disabled car, and as a green van drives past Gavin, the camera, cameraman and two other crewmembers (one wearing a baseball cap) are reflected on the van's surface.
Continuity: Just as Gavin's and Doyle's cars collide on the FDR, the right (viewer's left) side-view mirror on Doyle's car breaks off, but is then intact and broken again in following shots.
Continuity: When Doyle and Gavin collide on the FDR, Doyle's car hits the sand-filled barrels and ends up at the center of the chevron stripes on the median island, as seen in the overhead shot. When Gavin has the second accident, he walks over to Doyle's disabled car which is now at the right of the chevron stripes, closer to the exit ramp.
Continuity: Just after Doyle's car hits the sand-filled barrels, in the shot facing Gavin in his car, Doyle is seen in the background having removed his seatbelt, but in Doyle's next close-up he is still buckled and proceeds to remove the seatbelt again.
Continuity: After Gavin's second accident on the FDR there is a cut on his nose and another on his cheek. The characteristics - such as severity, size and position - of these cuts keep changing in the following scenes.
Continuity: After he misses his court appearance, when Doyle pleads with Valerie as she walks out of the courtroom, his left hand holds all the papers and folder, but next shot his left hand is empty and his right hand now holds everything.
Deliberate "mistake": When Finch is attempting to turn Doyle Gipson's credit back on, one close-up focuses on the framed photo and pans out to Finch's hands on the keyboard. This shot is flipped, note his wedding band and the mouse have switched sides.
Continuity: In the courtroom, Gavin puts down two files. One orange, one blue. In the next shot the files are black and blue. The next time they're in the courtroom and Terry mentions Gavin's accident the folder is orange again then gone altogether.
Plot hole: Doyle tells Gavin that it will take 30 minutes to get to his bank. Then Gavin's wife calls and tells him to meet her In 10 minutes. Doyle gets to the bank before Gavin Meets his wife.
Continuity: After Ben Affleck sets the sprinklers off in his office, his suit is drenched. As he exits the building minutes later, it's completely dry.
Continuity: When Ben Affleck is in court, he is playing with his wedding ring - the very next shot is him with his hands tother.
Other: At the end of the film when Samuel L Jackson's character is standing looking across at his family, it is raining on his side but not on the other side of the road.
Deliberate "mistake": After Doyle and Gavin agree to meet at the court (right before Gavin's second highway crash), there is a scene of a taxi driving on the left side of the road. This shot was obviously flipped, as everyone in the U.S. drives on the right-hand side of the road.
