Mistakes

At the start of the line dancing scene where Ray Von is deejaying, if you have the subtitles on, it says the song is Hillbilly Rock, Hillbilly Roll by the Woolpackers. It's actually 5,6,7,8 by Steps. (I'm quite embarrassed I know that). See more...

Trivia

When Brian is dating Bev, she sends back the pearl necklace when they break up and if you look closely at the return address on the back the name is "Beverly Hilscopto", AKA: Beverly Hills Cop Two. See more...

Phoenix Nights (2001) - 6 questions

starring Dave Spikey, Peter Kay (add more)

The "questions" section is for any random questions that occurred to you while watching this film, or anything you didn't entirely understand, and which Google or the IMDb can't help with. Submit them as a question, and hopefully someone will answer (the bold comments in brackets) - check back regularly. If the answer is wrong, or missing information, please use the "clarify answer" option. Don't feel limited - want to know what music played in a certain scene? Whether this was the first film to use a certain effect? Here's the place to ask!

Show season: Whole show  1  2  All

Across whole show

Entry What happened to Marrion from the first series? She wasn't seen or mentioned in series two. [She's not in it. There is a woman called Joyce, who could be seen as a replacement, but she has a much smaller part. I haven't heard why this happened.]
Entry We Know Brian is old (he says in one episode his Cadillac is his pension), how come he has no wrinkles on his face? I wouldn't think Brian has facials. [I always took that line about the Cadillac being his pension meant that its something he's going to enjoy when he retires. Otherwise, wouldn't he have said, "my pension paid for that" or something. And apart from that, Brian is played by a much younger Peter Kay, who probably decided that putting on lots of fancy age make-up would be both expensive, and unneccessary for a cheaply made sitcom.]
Entry What is Jerry's last name? When Brian signs his name he signs 'Jerry St. Clair', but in the hospital the nurse says 'Mr. Digman', and the plaque above the door of the Phoenix Club says both names. What is going on? [His name is Jerry St. Clair Dignan. He presumably prefers to go by Jerry St. Clair, hence Brian calling him that - hospital records, on the other hand, would have his full name, hence the nurse calling him Mr Dignan.]

Season 1 Episode 6 (series 1)

Entry In this episode Brian addresses Den Perry as Dennis, but in another episode in series 2 he calls him Denzel, I'm sure as they are rivals that they would know each other enough to get each other's name right, so why did Brian call him two different names? [He doesn't have a longer name eg. Dennis or Denzel it's simply Den. Brian simply says this to make Den annoyed by giving him a long name. Another theory is Brian is so stupid that he just doesn't know Mr. Perry's name or is unsure of it but I'm sure it's the first one.]

Season 1 Episode 1 (series 1)

Entry In the very first scene we hear Chorley FM, the DJ sounds a lot like Peter Kay. Is it him or am I wrong? [Yes it is PK - the characters he plays are Brian, Max, Keith Lard and indeed the voice of the radio. you can hear him on the radio a few times throughout the series.]

Season 2 Episode 6 (series 2)

Entry In the 'Stars in their Eyes' bit, which of the characters is singing as George Michael on, 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'? [Jerry St. Claire.]
