And when Homer is actually jumping the gorge, the rail disappears altogether.
Continuity mistake: Abe's girlfriend dies in the middle of this episode, but at the end, seconds before the end credits, you can see her walk behind some other old people.

This is not due to the alien light source altering the colors in the segment, because Marge's pearls have been a dark color through the whole episode, even inside the alien spaceship.

Revealing mistake: When Homer is imagining being locked in the jail cell and he turns around to find he is in his own home, he turns to look at his family. There is a close up shot of his terrified face, and the people in the background watching the game (I think it might be Lenny and Carl) have no eyes. The rest of their face is fine, but their eyes are missing.
Answer: Willy referred to an encounter he believed he had with actual aliens, while Wiggum thought he was referring to the arcade game.
