Are You Now, Margaret? - S8-E2
Factual error: Then camera Klinger is using is not period correct. Those Brownie cameras were not around at that time.
Other mistake: Frank Burns states when he is talking to a patient who just got a purple heart, that he would like to get a purple heart, but in the earlier episode ‘The Kids', Frank Burns received a purple heart due to a injury, and in the S1 episode ‘Sometimes You Hear the Bullet', Frank Burns gets another Purple Heart. Despite them both being stolen, they still count on his army record.
Visible crew/equipment: In the last scenes of the episode, the overhead shots showing the parade where Klinger rides in on Sophie, dressed (undressed) as Lady Godiva, you can see the boom mic in view at the top of the screen.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning, Colonel Potter is painting a portrait of Hawkeye. In the preceding episode, The Korean Surgeon, the painting is finished and hanging on the wall in Colonel Potter's office. It is hanging just to the left of the door. The time given is from The Korean Surgeon where you can see the painting hanging on the wall. (00:17:05)
Continuity mistake: As Mulcahy enters and is introduced by Potter, he assumes the podium, and clasps his hands behind his back. A second later, his arms are by his sides.
Continuity mistake: When the red head woman is playing the piano, it's a double. In the close up her hair is back and you can see her face. In the wide shots her hair covers her face so as to conceal the switch.
Continuity mistake: Charles and the G.I. lay waiting for an explosion. When the last mortar hits, the explosion is just to the left of the back tire, the jeep is untouched. After a cut, the jeep is trashed and burning.
Revealing mistake: In the closing scene, as the camera looks at the collected crowd, the camo net over the building poorly hides the edge of the "sky" background and the sound stage walls.
White Gold - S3-E23
Continuity mistake: As the men are sneaking by the tents, Hawkeye's voice is heard coming from a tent with opaque windows. A minute later in all the commotion, he's seen coming out of the Swamp.
Other mistake: After pulling out of the camp to head for the cave, The Bus is shown from several angles. Even though it's loaded, the shots of it travelling are re-used shots from an earlier episode, and the place it stops is a re-used shot from the episode "Rainbow Bridge"
Factual error: Nearly every show depicts the use of disposable plastic syringes, which weren't introduced till 1955, two years after the war ended.
Factual error: While eating, General Haggarty was told about how Conway should be a cook. Haggarty said "Change his (Conway's) MOS. MOS means Military Occupational Specialty, your job in service. Since M*A*S*H was set in the early 50's, Haggarty wouldn't have said that, because 'MOS' wasn't used until 1965.
Suggested correction: "MOS" most certainly was used during the Korean War. In 1965, the MOS system was simply changed, not created.
I perhaps misspoke. It was titled PMOS, and revamped in 1965 as just MOS. My apologies and thanks for the info.
According to "Introduction to Special Regulations SR 615-25-15, Enlisted Personnel Military Occupational Specialties" from the Department of the Army in November 1950, it's MOS. The "P" just means primary, but MOS was/is used way more than PMOS.
Character mistake: As Hawkeye goes to help Maj. Burns right at the end of the episode, he touches the patient with his bloody, contaminated gloves he used to work on the last patient. Such a blatant error would be anathema to any surgeon from the civilized world of the 20th century, let alone one of Hawkeye's caliber.
Other mistake: When the scene is of the cow in the barn, the background hilly area can be a painted backdrop.
Continuity mistake: After the files blow up, Klinger sees BJ looking at them. If you look carefully, you see that his head changes position between shots.
Cementing Relationships - S9-E3
Other mistake: When the mistake in the cement is discovered, Klinger is addressing Pierce, saying "Mr. Putty Putty, here." Problem is, that it was Mulcahy singing, "Cement mixer, putty putty.
Factual error: In the Swamp, Dr. Wu says "maeu gamsahabnida" when taking out the needle. It was translated as "Dr. Wu says the treatment is completed." The correct translation is "thank you very much"
