Stasis Leak - S2-E4

Revealing mistake: At The End of the episode when the future Lister closes the door on the Cat and Lister, you can see the partial editing out of Lister and the Cat as the door closes. As this happens, Lister and the Cat disappear before the door has passed them. (00:26:50)

Suggested correction: Stars are so far away that they do not appear to move when travelling in space, unless you reach incredibly high speeds or change direction.

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: After landing on Earth, Rimmer and Kryten are standing on land. When Kryten asks "What is this place?", a car can be seen driving forwards in the far background, even though everything in this version of Earth is supposed to work backwards. (00:06:15)

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: Lister and Cat get a ride to Nodnol after a man they bump into offers to take them in his van. The logo on the van appears completely normal, and has not been reversed, even though everything in this version of Earth is supposed to be reversed. (00:16:15)

Casual Person

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: The scene where the pub manager comes backstage to yell at Rimmer and Kryten was filmed, and then reversed to appear as if he was yelling backwards. Rimmer blinks when he is being yelled at, and due to the scene being played in reverse, his facial movements appear reversed, even though he is supposed to be moving forwards. (00:22:00)

Casual Person

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: Near The End of the episode, Kryten and his employer are seen arguing in supposedly backwards English. However, when you watch the episode how the people of earth would see it on the second DVD, Kryten and his employer aren't speaking English, they are just speaking plain gobbeldy-gook, even although when you see the people of Earth talking on the DVD they speak correctly. Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: At The End of the episode, the shot with the taxi has been reversed to show the number plate backwards. It has also changed everything else in the shot, most notably, the cat's outfit. In the next scene they have been flipped back to normal. (00:25:35)

M-Corp - S12-E5

Other mistake: When Cat picks up the can of Leopard lager which is invisible to Lister, he shakes it, pops the cap and sprays Lister with foam. The foam is visible but the can remains invisible, and that makes no sense. If we are seeing the scene from Cat's point of view the can and foam should both be visible, and if it is from Lister's then neither should be.

Nanarchy - S7-E8

Lister: What, they fixed your core program and then decided they'd be better off without you?
Holly: Yeah, it was shortly after they met me.

Meltdown - S4-E6

Trivia: "Meltdown" was originally planned to be the first episode of Series IV of Red Dwarf. However, the militaristic tone of this episode - and in particular Dave Lister's strident anti-war speech near The End of the episode - meant it fell foul of the BBC censors. The original planned transmission date (Feb 14 1991) coincided with the outbreak of "Operation Desert Storm" - the Gulf War...and the BBC felt that an "anti-war" episode of Red Dwarf would be inappropriate for a country at war with Iraq.
