Mistakes
When Hermione shows Ron and Harry the Gryffindor Quidditch trophy, in the close-up of James Potter's name, Harry's reflection is visible on the badge. In the reflection, the points of his white shirt collar and a good portion of his tie are seen, whereas, in the shots facing Harry the collar points are tucked into his sweater and only the tie's knot is seen. Book author J.K. Rowling wanted former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam to direct. However, Warner Bros. chose Chris Columbus, who had experience directing child actors (most notably, Macauly Culkin in the "Home Alone" films). In the Key room after Hermione asks, "What's this all about?" Ron takes his wand out and starts for the door. In the wide shot facing the door as he and Hermione pass to Harry's left the BAR attached to the underside of the broomstick bristles is visible. It is not visible in other shots.
