Mistakes
When Wood is telling Harry the rules of Quidditch he says that if you catch the Snitch the game is over, which is true but then he also says that which ever seeker catches the snitch, their team wins, but that isn't true. Granted that the 150 extra points probably would give you the winning lead, but as JKR pointed out in the 4th book at the Quidditch World Cup, you can catch the Snitch but lose the match. And you'd think explaining the rules to a first-timer you would want to get it right. See more...
Trivia
When Hermione shows Harry and Ron the Gryffindor Quidditch trophy with James Potter's name, to its left (viewer's right) the award for 'Special Services' is visible. Seen only on the full screen DVD are the last letters 'dle' at the top of the award - for Tom Riddle. See more...
As the troll begins to lift Harry with his huge club in the girls' lavatory, in the overhead shot as Harry hangs on to the edge of the 'real' club, at the bottom left of the screen the crew's blue equipment is perfectly visible. (Visible on DVD fullscreen.)
