Iron Eagle (1986)

Corrected entry: After Doug has finished moaning to his friends about not getting into the air force, his girlfriend can be seen in the background smiling. This is a bit out of character I would think. (At first I thought she might have been smiling at the voice on the PA but the voice is obviously Knotchers, whom she despises).

Gavin Jackson

Correction: Yes, a bit out of character. She could have been thinking about something funny at the time. Either way it is a character flaw, not a movie mistake.

Iron Eagle (1986)

Corrected entry: 45 minutes into the film, Colonel Masters is berating his son, Doug, for pulling unauthorised maneuvers, as they flew in an F-16. Doug says, "Come on dad!" His father replies, "Don't 'Come on me' Dad" instead of "Don't 'Come on dad' me".

Correction: His character was upset and misspoke. Character error, not a movie mistake.

Corrected entry: When preparing for the HALO jump, Bond is told that there is a danger of him getting tangled in his parachute and drowning when he hits the water. This is extremely unlikely since he is already breathing from the cylinders on his back via regulator which is firmly attached to his face. There's no way the parachute or any of the cords would be able to constrict the HP air hoses on the diving gear.

Correction: Getting tangled in the parachute cords could also mean having the cords rip your face mask off; very likely if the cords wrap around the skydivers head when he (or she) pulls the rip cord.

Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: Among the items recovered from the ship is an old hand mirror. While suspension of disbelief allows us to accept that a mirror could last this long intact, the fact is that submerged in water, at that pressure the mirror would have turned streaked if not turned totally black. (00:16:40)

Correction: I visited a huge exhibit of artifacts brought up from the Titanic that included bottles, glasses plates and personal belongings. Many of the artifacts, after being cleaned up, were in excellent condition. It appears that after all those years at the bottom many metal and glass objects were able to survive unscathed. As early as 1835 mirrors were created by depositing a thin layer of metallic silver onto glass; silver would not streak or turn black, regardless of the pressure.

The Naked Gun (1988)

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the movie when the baseball scene is showing highlights as the song "I Love L.A" plays, you'll notice in one scene when a grand slam happens that 4 players cross second base. This is impossible since only the batter and the man on first should cross second base.

logan crews

Correction: That's the joke! Only one or two players at most should have crossed second plate, but a whole string of players cross one after the other. Bear in mind the footage also includes a player getting his head taken off by a ball, and one being attacked by a tiger.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: As the Joker begins the explosions to destroy Gotham General Hospital, bricks are raining down all over the street, yet the car and ambulance parked in front suffer no damage.

Correction: Watched this scene closely twice now... the Joker is standing a good distance down the street when he sets off the explosions, and there are no good close-up shots of the two vehicles after the explosions. It's not possible to tell the extent of the damage, and it is also possible - although unlikely - that the two vehicles didn't get struck with any of the debris.

Robocop (1987)

Corrected entry: When Robocop is in the convenience store about to arrest the guy robbing the store, the robber shoots Robocop several times with a machine gun. Robocop walks up, grips the end of the gun, and bends it down. Basic physics dictate that either the robber would be lifted up or the gun would be prised out of his hands rather than the gun barrel bending, unless the robber weighs a ton and has an amazingly strong grip.

Correction: Unknown what the gun barrel is made of, but it appears to be very thin (exterior circumference) and would be extremely hot after the robber fired so many rounds. This combination, along with the robber keeping a tight grip on the weapon with both hands and Robocop very quickly bending it, could allow the barrel to bend in the manner portrayed.

BocaDavie

Rubbish. A machine gun barrel made of a metal soft enough to be bent in the way we see would be ripped apart the first time a bullet transited through it at supersonic speed.

Robocop (1987)

Corrected entry: After Murphy dies, the screen goes black and there is a very cool sequence of scenes from RoboCop's point of view. In one of them, though, a female Security Concepts/OCP suit says, "Bring in the LED" and a green light-grid covers the screen. A technician then "secures" each corner with a screwdriver, but as he does each screw, the grid gets progressively closer to the screen, until it has disappeared. What kind of device would move each time a corner is tightened?

rbryant73

Correction: Unknown, but this one does. It is a technology of the future; we just need to accept that it works the way it is portrayed in the film. A curiosity, but not a movie mistake.

Robocop 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: In the first Robocop film, RoboCop took on ED-209 and then he was shot by around 20 police officers for a total of around two minutes of screentime. Although cosmetically damaged, he was still operational and carried on. So how on earth can a little boy easily shoot off his hand with a few short bursts of a machine gun? If it was that easy to shoot his hand off, why didn't Ed or the police do it in the first film, and destroy him bit by bit?

Padzter

Correction: Unknown what kind of shells the kid was using. 50 caliber armor-piercing shells aimed directly at the wrist joint would do the job, and apparently much more effectively than the standard police ammo.

Robocop 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: Why is RoboCop 2 unable to speak? Surely if RoboCop 2 was to stumble upon a crime it would have to make some form of communication with the perpitratiors. If the makers of the robot bothered to put a computerised image of Cain's face on the robot, then surely they should have made a voice for him too? The digital image of a face is basically useless, and wouldn't have helped much in say a hostage situation or an assault on a building.

Padzter

Correction: Another character choice. They must have decided that RoboCain would enforce the law using brute force. If he said anything it would probably be to ask for more nuke; something his creators would not want the public to hear.

Robocop 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, Robocop rips Kane's brain out of Robocop 2 and smashes it on the ground. Only after that, the representation of Kane in Robocop 2 then dies. How could Kane, who is the brain, still control or react to his brain being smashed? Shouldn't Robocop 2 have died immediately when the brain was ripped out of him?

Correction: Although it looks like Kane's brain is hard-wired into the armor, a remote connection would not have been impossible. It would also be a good contingency plan in case the brain is separated from the body.

Robocop 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: When Robocop is broken in pieces by Kain's crew, they take Robocop to the police station and a man throws the pieces of Robocop out of the car with one hand even though Robocop is very heavy. Several men are needed to carry Robocop in a scene later.

Correction: As a unit Robocop is very heavy. Individual pieces of him would be easy to lift. The torso section, weighing the most, was pushed out of the car.

Robocop 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: When Robocop goes after Kain in the mill, they shoot off Robocop's hand, pick him up with a magnet, put him on a table and lock his hands and feet down. When they start to cut him up, they cut his leg off and it somehow falls to the floor, even though it was supposed to be locked to the table.

Correction: Robocop is not locked to the table, he is secured with huge metal chains. They don't actually show the leg being severed; it is done off camera. Kane's men must have pulled it out from under the chain and dropped it to the floor.

Corrected entry: When Blofield's base is exploding, external shots are shown which blatantly show lava flowing down. This is video of a real volcano erupting.

Correction: Blofeld sets off an explosion so intense that it re-activates the volcano to destroy all traces of his lair. Knowing which real volcano eruption they used would make an interesting trivia entry, but the volcano eruption in the movie is part of the plot - not a movie mistake.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: How could Blofeld have kept an efficient operation in Japan when he personally killed his own top two officers, 4 and 11, over such trivial matters as whether they succeeded in killing Bond? After all, when 4 was being killed, Bond was already in his custody, so exactly where did Osato fail? doesn't that leave a big power vaccum at the top?

Correction: Character choice, not a movie mistake. Many possible explainations. He is after all, quite evil.

Wall-E (2008)

Corrected entry: In several scenes where one of the characters is holding a cigarette lighter, the tip of the flame is rounded but the reflection on the robots shows the flame coming to a point.

Correction: I've watched this movie four times and cannot see this error. Remember, it is a Zippo-style lighter; the flame is wider along the length of the casing and much more narrow along the width. The reflection of the flame may appear to come to a point as the angle between the lighter and the reflective surface changes.

Iron Man (2008)

Corrected entry: When Tony is having his chest generator replaced Pepper pulls out the magnet. When he has to use the old generator again after the new one is stolen the magnet is not replaced.

Correction: We never see him put the old arc reactor back in. He may have re-installed the magnet or the reactor may have functioned without the magnet.

Titanic (1997)

Correction: I've seen this movie well over a dozen times and have reviewed the sinking scene. I can't spot any indication of a change in the funnel shapes. Please provide a time code or advise which one of the funnels becomes rectangular.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: In the final scene of the The Sound of Music, Maria, Captain Von Trapp, and the children are walking on a mountain. If you look at the grass by where they are walking, the grass looks like heavy wind is blowing on it. This wind probably isn't natural because the mountain does not look that high. I believe it is cause by the helicopter they used to shoot the scene on a real mountain.

Correction: "Probably" does not qualify as a movie mistake, and heavy wind occurs at all elevations. If a wind machine or helicopter blades/helicopter shadow were visible in the shot THEN it would be a movie mistake.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Corrected entry: When the insurance man runs into the bathroom, and is eaten by the T-Rex, why would they have bathrooms on an automated car tour where you're not supposed to open the doors anyway? Even if it were an emergency staff bathroom, it probably wouldn't have multiple stalls.

Correction: Remember, "probably" doesn't qualify as a movie mistake. It must have taken dozens of workers to construct the paddock; a double-stall toilet would be logical. Since they decided to make it a permanent toilet (instead of a porta-potty) it would make sense to leave it there for maintenance workers and park employees.

BocaDavie

Correction: They also might have stops for visitors. A lot of visitors would want to stop and see the T-Rex.

Plus, when you gotta go you gotta go.
