The Patriot (2000)

Trivia: Ironically, when Heath Ledger tried out for the role as Mel Gibson's son for the first time, he felt he did not deserve the part, so he apologized to the casting agents and left. The next day, they called him up and asked to give it just another shot at auditioning, which he did. He nailed it.

The Pianist (2002)

Trivia: In order to look authentic for his role, Adrian Brody was required to lose weight, even though he was already lanky enough to begin with. He lost even more weight, and that, among others, made his Oscar-winning performance more memorable. He looked so thin that he was asked: How did he do it? His reply: 'Don't eat. I'm sure there are other ways, but the quickest is don't eat. It was excruciating.'

Schindler's List (1993)

Trivia: During filming, Steven Spielberg once stated, 'SS marksmen, for fun, would throw babies in the air and shoot them like skeet. I wouldn't do that, even with dolls' (on why he would not film such a scene).

Goodfellas (1990)

Trivia: In the book Wiseguy, it is stated that even in the gangster world, discipline and order had to maintained. No one could kill anyone they wanted whenever they pleased. Dead bodies were not allowed to be haphazardly left in the streets for all to see. People who had grudges against certain individuals had to sit down with mob chiefs to get their okay to have them 'whacked'. Since Tommy killed Billy Batts and several others without permission, he sealed his own fate. There are similar cases mentioned in the book regarding loose cannons, deadbeats, and snitches and their ultimate demise. Henry put it so in the case of Stacks Edwards: "It was Jimmy who gave the order, but it was Paulie who gave Jimmy the look."

Goodfellas (1990)

Trivia: When the Hill family were about to begin life in hiding under the Witness Protection Program, Karen's optimism is revealed. In the book Wiseguy, she said something to the effect of 'There'd be no more gangsters, hitmen, and no more cheating girlfriends. I thought maybe it wasn't going to be so bad after all.'

The Golden Child (1986)

Twilight (2008)

Trivia: When Bella is invited to the Cullen's house for the first time, she and Edward head for the stairway. Against the wall is a cross lying at an angle. Though they do not discuss it in the film, in the book Edward explains to Bella the history of the cross and how Carlisle acquired it. It's clear that vampires do not fear crosses.

Planet Terror (2007)

Trivia: When Tammy [Stacey Ferguson of the Black Eyed Peas] tries to hitch a ride at night after her car breaks down, she is attacked by silhouetted zombies. When the first zombie attacks her, hit the pause/slow motion button on your DVD player: you will see a figure in a jacket and he has a bonnet covering his head. That person is Quentin Tarantino.

Colors (1988)

Trivia: When Colors was first screened in a university theater, a young film student was of the opinion that the studio who financed this film 'had no right to make a movie about a culture they knew nothing about', and that they were marketing it as a picture about black gangs when it was actually a film about 'two white cops.' This student eventually graduated, wrote a film, and directed it. That film was Boyz in Da Hood, and the writer-director was John Singleton, who at the time had had it with those 'stupid New Jack Shitty exploitation films about blacks.'
