The Hours (2002)

Corrected entry: When Clarissa comes to see Richard for the first time, the proportion of white flowers in the bunch she is carrying goes down drastically when she enters the apartment. (00:17:55)

NancyFelix

Correction: The large bundle of flowers Clarissa carries does not change in any way, from the time we see her cross the street until she opens the bundles and arranges the flowers in vases. The flowers are all very consistent throughout.

The Hours (2002)

Corrected entry: When Laura picks up Virginia Woolf's book from under the bedside table we see a close-up with four separate, parallelly arranged stacks of books. When the camera angle changes there are only three irregularly arranged stacks. (00:07:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: There are only three stacks at all times during the scene. And there are still only three stacks later in the day, when Laura is lying on the bed again.

Brenda Elzin

Corrected entry: When Irene falls into the river the hits a rock with the right of her head. When she emerges the wound is on the left side. (01:37:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: Having just watched the scene in question, it's very clear that it is the left side of her face that hits the rock.

Hanover Street (1979)

Corrected entry: On their escape, a French woman hides Sellinger and Halloran in a barn. We see a man behind a curtain who later makes a phone call to inform the Germans. When they arrive Sellinger says to Halloran that the girl's father must have called them, this in spite of the fact that the woman never mentioned her father. (01:32:25)

NancyFelix

Correction: When they met the woman in the barn, and after she kills the German soldier, she mentions that her father is a collaborationist, because he was afraid of the Germans. It's natural to assume that if somebody alerted the Germans, it would only be her father.

The River Wild (1994)

Corrected entry: If you consider how fast the river is and how high and impassable the rocks on both sides of the river are, it is obvious that it was absolutely impossible for Tom to overtake the raft and arrive at the gauntlet well in time to set up the sophisicated trap with which he finally flips over the raft.

NancyFelix

Correction: We are shown that the four people in the raft took breaks (slept, ate etc.)and also how they weren't going at a fast speed all of the time but simply drifted sometimes, however Tom, driven by the motivation to save his son's and wife's life would have made his way down the river without breaks.

The River Wild (1994)

Corrected entry: After the encounter with Gail's old Buddy, Ranger Johnny, Johnny paddles off without noticing the situation Gail and her family is in. Terry starts yelling and beating up Tom for drawing a SOS sign in the sand when Johnny still is not even around the next bend and still well within hearing distance. (00:58:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: Terry is not a very smart guy so this is a character mistake. Johnny might well have heard them fighting, but chose not to come back, which he could have done for many reasons (not wanting to meddle, not bothering to turn the kajak around, etc).

The River Wild (1994)

Corrected entry: It's strange that only Gail and Rourke see Tom's smoke signals but not Wade and Terry, even if the latter are somewhat distracted by the river wild. (01:19:55)

NancyFelix

Correction: Roarke was lying on his back in the bottom of the boat having nothing to do while the others were paddling, so it's not so strange that he noticed the signals. He then alerted his mother, but of course not the other two.

The River Wild (1994)

Corrected entry: When Tom rescues Wade he knocks him out not to get pulled under himself, and Wade visibly turns limp under water. The moment they emerge Wade has regained full consciousness and is able to pull himself into the raft. (00:25:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: Nothing wrong with this. People are perfectly capable of being "unconscious" for only a few seconds. Surely an underwater punch from an "everyman" like Tom would only incapacitate Wade for a few moments.

Lethal Weapon (1987)

Corrected entry: When the little boy points at Riggs' tattoo he could hardly see it as Riggs' sleeve was down. Only when it's pulled up does the tattoo become visible. (01:00:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: The tattoo is visible when Riggs and Murtaugh are walking up to the children. His sleeve comes down during the scene, but the boy would have seen the tattoo earlier and remembered it being the same.

Corrected entry: When Rhett drops Scarlett at Ashley's birthday party she is wearing a violet veil attached to her hairdo. When she enters the room where the guests are, the veil disappears when the camera angle changes while she is standing in the door. (01:21:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: Actually, Scarlett has the tulle stole that we see over her arms arranged differently as she is entering the house - -the tulle is unfolded, draped over her shoulders, and draped over a comb on the back of Scarlett's headdress that pins three sausage curls in place. By the time the camera pans back to Scarlett in the foyer, she had removed the tulle from her head and shoulders, and allowed it to slip down her arms to reveal her bare neckline and shoulders.

Gangs of New York (2002)

Corrected entry: When the four scapegoats are hanged you see two shots of people watching them fall, following them with their eyes on their way down: first the wife of one of the condemned scapegoats, then Bill's followers. The funny thing is that in the second group, only Amsterdam seems to look at the executed, while McGloin and the others keep staring into empty space where the hanged had been before they fell. (00:58:55)

NancyFelix

Correction: McGloin and the gang are looking at the right place, it is Amsterdam who is simply looking down in disgust. You can see in the following shot that Amsterdam looks back up like everybody else for a split second.

28th Oct 2003

The Ring (2002)

Corrected entry: At the wake Rachel talks to some teenage friends of Katie's to find more about her death. The way they interrupt each other sounds very artificial, as one person stops talking in mid-sentence the split-second another person starts, without any overlap, e.g. when the boy butts in first. (00:15:45)

NancyFelix

Correction: Bad acting isn't a movie mistake.

22nd Sep 2003

Fort Apache (1948)

Corrected entry: When the alarm from Fort Grant comes in Col. Thursday skips his dinner and rushes to the headquarters. Given the danger of the situation as well as his meticulous sense of duty (also of his subordinates') he'd for sure have summoned his next in line, the Capts. York and Collingwood and Lt. O'Rourke, who are enjoying an undisturbed dinner party at the Collingwoods' quarters. (00:36:50)

NancyFelix

Correction: This isn't really a mistake it's questioning the judgement of a charecter who didn't do what one would think he'd normally do. Remember the telegram came after dark and there was nothing the regiment could have done anyway.

Corrected entry: When the girls are taken away from their home they have only the clothes they are wearing. When they arrive at Moore River they all carry bags. (00:15:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: They were given bags after they left their home to use at Moore River.

Secondhand Lions (2003)

Corrected entry: When the young Hub re-joins the legion after Jasmine died he rides through a gate while a regiment of legionnaires awaits him. The shadow of the wall shortens by half between shots. (01:07:25)

NancyFelix

Correction: This event is taking place in Walter's imagination, and is thus a character mistake, NOT a film mistake.

The Green Mile (1999)

Corrected entry: When Percy is released from the straightjacket the cloth that is pulled out of his mouth is smooth and dry, not wet and wrinkled as it should be after an hour or so in his mouth. (02:18:00)

NancyFelix

Correction: Everything that they had to accomplish in that storyline, would have taken far longer than an hour. With a rag stuffed in his mouth for that long, and covered by tape to boot, Percy's mouth would have been bone dry, by the time Boss Edgecomb removed it. The hanky looked like silk, which was common for that era, and silk doesn't wrinkle. You can actually hear in Doug Hutchinson's voice, that the few minutes he actually had the rag in his mouth had already made his mouth dry.

Corrected entry: When Toula's sister comes to the restaurant with her three boys she throws her coat on top of the cash register, and her scarf slips to the right side. When she leaves she picks up the coat which is covering the whole cash registers (plus the menus she is going to drop on the floor) and the scarf is lying on top of the coat. (00:10:25)

NancyFelix

Correction: There is more than enough time between the times that you see it for someone to have moved it.

Corrected entry: Billy is found lying in a pool of blood. However, it's impossible that only seconds after he slit his throat the flow of blood has stopped completely. (01:56:10)

NancyFelix

Correction: If Billy cut deep enough to sever both the jugular vein and the carotid artery, and his heart rate was very high (after his emotional outburst), he could have exsanguinated in the 1 and a half minutes required. He is still gushing when Nurse Pilbow screams, as evidenced by the blood spray on her, and the blood could have just stopped by the time we see him. Also notice the spray of blood on the walls, indicating he was losing blood hard and fast.

Dirty Harry (1971)

Corrected entry: Harry waits on a bridge for the bus to jump on. When the bus comes closer he starts climbing down, but then, in a reflection in the windshield, he is still standing as before. (01:31:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: When Harry climbs down he climbs to a lower level of the bridge. When he is next seen in the reflection of the bus windshield, he is now standing at that lower level.

Corrected entry: The air in Henry's bedroom is so cold that there is a layer of ice on the washing bowl, but his breath makes no clouds. (00:11:30)

NancyFelix

Correction: It is often cold (below freezing) and yet breath won't be seen unless other conditions are just right for it. It is a matter of humidity, not just temperature.
