General questions

Seeking name of movie based on a movie trailer I saw between 1997-2002, involving a summer camp and residents that may be Boy Scouts. Primarily the counselor asks if the boys have their cameras to reveal a nude women the boys eagerly photograph.

Answer: I'm not sure, but it could be "Camp Nowhere." See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109369/.

General questions

I am trying to identify the title of a film. The film ends with a climactic battle between archers and armored soldiers. The soldiers are in a field with shields held over their heads to protect against volleys of arrows. The archers then begin firing horizontally, taking out the ever-dwindling soldiers until all are dead. I remember it as being a B&W film, but I could be wrong. I do know it is quite old, 1960's or before.

Answer: It could be "The 300 Spartans." See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055719/.

General questions

I remember seeing this movie in the early-to-mid 90s. I can't remember too much, but I will do my best. I remember a young teenage boy and a blue and white ancient stamp of something nautical - either a boat or a sailor-type boy with a spy glass or something along those lines. The stamp was very important and worth a lot of money, and, I believe, had something to do with this boy's dead grandfather. I also think if there was a boy in the stamp it may have looked like the boy in the movie. Maybe that was what the big adventure (aka the plot) was over? This is where I may just be speculating: The boy also had an older brother and his friends who, I think, got involved with the boy in some search for the stamp. I remember images of the end pretty well - the boy pastes or find the stamp in a "stamp book". Then someone from the beginning of the film steals something or runs off and everyone has to chase him. I just remember the line "He's had a relapse." and someone answers "What's a relapse?" And that's how it ends. This is so far fetched, but it would make my existence if someone knew what in the hell I was talking about. THANKS.

Answer: Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Travellers, with Lucas Evans and Anthony Rogers. There is also a sequel, The Return of Tommy Tricker.

Question: Why is there always a midget version of Piangi's character in the operas?

Answer: Midgets were common at the time in that type of shows, where they were used as a comic relief.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Question: How exactly is the preparation of the breakfast with the egg and the toast?

Answer: Take a slice of bread. Using a drinking glass, cut a hole out of it by pressing the opening of the glass down. Butter both sides, then put the "frame" slice in the pan (you can discard the cut-out piece of bread), then crack an egg in it. Cook to taste.

Answer: Christine recognises him as soon as he opens his mouth - you see her being slightly shocked. Raoul takes a bit more time, and it's not as obvious. I'd say when you see him getting half up, that's when it dawns on him, but that's open to interpretation.

Question: In the extras DVD of the deluxe boxset, there are a few videos of Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman performing the opera (and from what I can tell the video looks from around the time or the original stage show). But it looks to be very much done for the camera (rather than just a recording of the show being performed live). Was the whole opera done in this way, using the original cast? And was it released? I can't find any reference to it at all on IMDB. If it has been released, where can I find it?

Gary O'Reilly

Chosen answer: In 1986-1987, before the show actually premiered, a few songs featuring Sarah Brightman were released to promote it, including the signature theme, featuring both her and Steve Harley (and not, as is often assumed, Michael Crawford). Although the song is from the stage musical, the lyrics used were not the definitive ones and the accompanying video was specially recorded for promotion purposes and was not from the actual show.

Question: Between what scenes did they want to put the deleted scene "No one would listen"?

Answer: According to the script, right after the Masquerade (you can see his costume lying on a chair).

Question: I just wanted to know, in the prima dona song the lyrics say something like "a chorus girl who's gone and slept with her patron". Are they just making an assumption that they slept together or did they actually do it because in this point of the film she had only just come back from the phantom's lair and had only been in the same room as him in one scene.

Answer: They assume Christine spent the night with Raoul. After all, they'd left him in her dressing room right before she disappeared.

Question: Is it me or is there a reason why madame Giry has a french accent whereas her daughter Meg has an English one? Considering they live in France shouldn't Meg's accent have been french too?

Answer: Mme Giry's accent is not meant to be "French" per se. The various accents used in the movie can be thought of as reflecting of the various accents one would encounter in such a cosmopolitan place as a late-1800s Paris Opera house, with people coming from all over France (yes, there are various French accents like there are various English ones) and Europe. Mme Giry and Meg's accents being different only shows that Mme Giry didn't grown up in the same place where she raised Meg. The same thing happens nowadays with immigrants' families, where parents speak with a different accent than their children's.

Question: Among the mistakes, one says that Christine's first line doesn't match her lips. What exactly is she saying, I can't make it out?

Answer: She probably says the same thing we hear, but the sound isn't properly synched.

Sereenie

Question: Why does the Phantom leave Christine's ring on her grave? It is the only personal possession of hers that he has and therefor very important to him.

Answer: That is open to each viewer's interpretation. I like to think it's his way of acknowledging Raoul, to let him know he too is still alive and has kept on loving her during all those years. They both end up leaving something of significance in each other's relationship with Christine.

Sereenie

Question: How old is the phantom, because if he was the same age as madam Giry he would no longer be alive.

Answer: He is supposed to be five years younger than her. And even if they were the same age, she is still alive, so why couldn't he?

National Treasure (2004)

Question: Ben explains the code on the Declaration reading 'Heere to the Wall' refers to the corner of Broadway and Wall St. But inside the church he reads 'Beneath Parkington Lane' and assumes that must mean beneath the church. But why is there no explanation for what Parkington Lane is and why wouldn't Ben think it's just another clue?

Answer: He doesn't simply assume "Beneath Parkington Lane" means beneath the church: Parkington Lane is the name etched on the tomb hiding the entrance to the tunnels. When he saw it, he naturally deduced what he had to do.

The Village (2004)

Question: I've seen the movie once or twice, but I must've missed something. Could someone please tell me why Noah stabbed Lucius? Was it just something the director put in as an excuse to have someone go into the woods?

Answer: Jealousy. Noah wanted Ivy to himself, but Ivy was in love with Lucius. So Noah stabbed him.

Question: At the beginning of the movie, during the auction, when the chandelier rises, the seats in the opera house are dusty. At the end of the movie, it is seen that the seats burn when the chandelier falls. Is this a mistake, or did they rebuild the opera house after the accident?

Answer: Considering the fact that nearly 50 years have passed between both sets of events, it is conceivable that the Opera House could have been rebuilt, at least partially, at some point before being abandoned for good.

Question: During "Think of Me", the camera goes down into the cellars and we get our first look at the Phantom. Can anyone see what he is doing?

Answer: He is merely listening to Christine singing, enjoying her triumph and nodding in approval at his pupil.

Question: Is Il Muto an actual opera? I rather enjoyed it and thought I would try to see it.

Answer: No. Andrew Lloyd Webber created it for his show's purposes.

Sereenie

Question: Does anyone know why the deleted scene in the DVD was cut from the release?

Answer: Because it only slowed the action down without bringing anything new to the plot.

Sereenie

Chosen answer: She wanted to leave him something of hers to keep, and it's the only personal item she had on hand.

Sereenie

It is his ring that he gave to her. She is giving him back his ring.
