Continuity mistake: When Kid Blue is riding on his bike trying to kill Joe laying on the floor, Joe's position is inconsistent between shots.

Suggested correction: The reflection is the sky and buildings around the car.

Continuity mistake: When Sara points her gun at the field and cries "don't give me no hobo story", her hair around the right side of her face and neck changes positions between shots.

Suggested correction: Her hair is moving because of the wind. Her hair is never in a still position during that scene as her hair is moving in the wind. Same goes for the stalks in the fields moving because of the wind.

Continuity mistake: When old Seth is running away and sees his scar, the length of the sleeve rolled down changes between shots.

Suggested correction: The sleeve length is changing because old Seth is pulling his sleeve down to read the scar.

Continuity mistake: When Joe is hiding from the Gat behind the couch, his gun swaps from facing a 3 o'clock direction to a 1 o'clock between shots.

Continuity mistake: When the waitress delivers the identical breakfast plates to the two Joes, she places them in exactly the same way with respect to the men - eggs toward them, steak facing away. In the longer shot, old Joe's is different, although neither has touched the plate.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Old Joe (Bruce Willis) is forced to the time machine and then fights back, the amount of Gat Men changes. 2 are seen bringing him in, another collecting the gold and the brown jacket, and a fourth opening the time machine. However, when he fights back there are only 3 bodies. It is plausible but unlikely that the fourth man would have left and gotten far enough away not to hear the fight.

Revealing mistake: Considerable efforts were made for this film to have Joseph Gordon-Levitt resemble Bruce Willis (colored contacts, nose prosthetics) since they are playing the same character at different ages. Yet the two actors' ears remain distinctly different. Bruce Willis's ears are much larger than Joseph Gordon-Levitt's, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has connected ear lobes while Bruce Willis does not.

Phaneron

Continuity mistake: When Cid is in the field, his face is sometimes covered in blood, or with a clean trail on the right cheek. This changes randomly.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Cid is comforted by Joe and his mom arrives. Cid is either facing her or the opposite side, depending on the shot.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: While hiding from the Gat man in the tunnel made by Cid's grandfather, the stick used to hold open the trap door switches from the knot being at the side, to the knot being at the front.

Other mistake: When Joe shoots the boy at the back of the house, he walks to the front at the same time a woman a few feet away walks toward him with a pram, and there are people in the background. There is no reaction from anyone to the obviously loud gun shot noise - his gun did not have a silencer on it.

Abe: This time travel crap, just fries your brain like a egg.

Trivia: Emily Blunt signed on to the film after reading the first half of the script. She hadn't even gotten to the scene where her character was introduced.

Question: How does the "timeline loop" with the kid becoming the mob boss (and looking to kill Bruce Willis 30 years later) start? If it gets started by "old" Bruce Willis killing the kid's (future mob boss) mother, and getting him very angry and revengeful, because Willis wants to revenge the death of its wife by the future mob boss... Then it is a chicken and egg problem.

AnthonyA

Chosen answer: The first time the time-loop occurred it is not necessarily due to Bruce Willis' character killing her. She could have died in another way, instigating the timeline in which Bruce Willis is taken to close his loop. He knows who the rainmaker is and therefore attempts to kill him in order to preserve his happy future. This in turn creates a brand new timeline in which Joe kills himself to save Sara, who in turn prevents the rainmaker from becoming a crime lord.
