Looper

Continuity mistake: When Joseph Gordon-Levitt is shot by Emily Blunt with rock salt, he is hit in the right shoulder. In the next scene he is having his left shoulder treated. The porch swing and chair are now on opposite sides from other scenes too - the whole shot is flipped.

Continuity mistake: When Joe and Cid are sitting at the table working on the signal frogs, Cid's front tooth is missing. In every scene Cid is in after that, his tooth is not missing.

lrb

Continuity mistake: When old Joe is in the night club killing everybody, his face is covered in blood, but spotless when seen through the CCTV.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Kid Blue is riding on his bike trying to kill Joe laying on the floor, Joe's position is inconsistent between shots.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Suzie is looking at herself in the mirror having a cigarette, she has make-up on and some of it is wrongly smeared around her eye. When she is sitting on top of Joe a few moments later, the smeared make-up around her eye is gone and she is just wearing make-up. (00:22:40 - 00:23:15)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When Sara and Cid are practicing maths on the multiplication grid, Sara asks what is 8 X 7 and Cid puts a 56 on the board. The 56 is located one next to the end grid in the first shot, but by the next shot, the 56 is suddenly located at the corner of the grid. (01:12:10)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When Sara points her gun at the field and cries "don't give me no hobo story", her hair around the right side of her face and neck changes positions between shots.

Suggested correction: Her hair is moving because of the wind. Her hair is never in a still position during that scene as her hair is moving in the wind. Same goes for the stalks in the fields moving because of the wind.

Continuity mistake: When old Seth is running away and sees his scar, the length of the sleeve rolled down changes between shots.

Sacha

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The sleeve length is changing because old Seth is pulling his sleeve down to read the scar.

Continuity mistake: When Joe is hiding from the Gat behind the couch, his gun swaps from facing a 3 o'clock direction to a 1 o'clock between shots.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When the waitress delivers the identical breakfast plates to the two Joes, she places them in exactly the same way with respect to the men - eggs toward them, steak facing away. In the longer shot, old Joe's is different, although neither has touched the plate.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Old Joe (Bruce Willis) is forced to the time machine and then fights back, the amount of Gat Men changes. 2 are seen bringing him in, another collecting the gold and the brown jacket, and a fourth opening the time machine. However, when he fights back there are only 3 bodies. It is plausible but unlikely that the fourth man would have left and gotten far enough away not to hear the fight.

Continuity mistake: When Cid is in the field, his face is sometimes covered in blood, or with a clean trail on the right cheek. This changes randomly.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Cid is comforted by Joe and his mom arrives. Cid is either facing her or the opposite side, depending on the shot.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: In the diner shootout scene, Joseph Gordon shoots at Bruce Willis, missing and smashing the window that's right next to the blue lighted sign on the wall. After more loopers arrive to kill Bruce Willis, the window is intact once more and Bruce shoots it out again so he can jump out of it. (00:51:20)

Continuity mistake: While hiding from the Gat man in the tunnel made by Cid's grandfather, the stick used to hold open the trap door switches from the knot being at the side, to the knot being at the front.

Continuity mistake: When Kid Blue is holding his Gat gun on Joe he pulls back the hammer. In the second shot of Kid Blue, the hammer is back to its original unpulled position. Then, just before Abe swings open the door the hammer returns back to its correct pulled back position. Despite not being able to see the hammer from the angle on the gun we are given, the location of the hammer is given away by Kid Blues' thumb placement. (00:15:42)

Continuity mistake: When Joe is escaping the diner on Seth's bike, Kid Blue is shown running up to him. At this point, Kid Blue has a blue shirt on, then as he gets blasted back by the bike's engine and falls backwards, he suddenly has a purple shirt on. A few shots later, he is back to having the blue shirt on. (00:49:50)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: As Sara and Cid practice maths, Cid places a 21 on the 3 x 7 grid. The shot after he says "He's keeping us safe", the 21 has vanished. A couple of shots later, as Cid goes to set the 32 down, it has reappeared. (01:12:25)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When Joe pushes Kid Blue into his silver bar vault, Kid Blue attempts to climb out, but Joe closes the door and Kid Blue traps his fingers in the door. His fingers are at first, all stretched out, but by the next shot, his fingers are suddenly closer together. (00:28:40)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When the waitress Beatrix is pouring coffee into Joe's mug at the diner, an angle from far away shows Beatrix's right arm with the kettle in her hand pouring the coffee into Joe's mug and her left arm is by her side. In the next shot, as she goes to leave, her left arm is now suddenly placed on Joe's shoulder. (00:02:50)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When old Joe is in the night club killing everybody, his face is covered in blood, but spotless when seen through the CCTV.

Question: How does the "timeline loop" with the kid becoming the mob boss (and looking to kill Bruce Willis 30 years later) start? If it gets started by "old" Bruce Willis killing the kid's (future mob boss) mother, and getting him very angry and revengeful, because Willis wants to revenge the death of its wife by the future mob boss... Then it is a chicken and egg problem.

AnthonyA

Chosen answer: The first time the time-loop occurred it is not necessarily due to Bruce Willis' character killing her. She could have died in another way, instigating the timeline in which Bruce Willis is taken to close his loop. He knows who the rainmaker is and therefore attempts to kill him in order to preserve his happy future. This in turn creates a brand new timeline in which Joe kills himself to save Sara, who in turn prevents the rainmaker from becoming a crime lord.
