At graduation, after Troy is handed the diploma, in the overhead shot the graduates on the left and right stand-up from their seats, then turn and walk towards each other. Stan Ellsworth, who briefly plays big, burly Mr. Riley, has an interesting personal history that is hardly known. After high school, he was in the US Marine Corp for eight years, and was honorably discharged with the rank of First Sergeant. Then after receiving a BA in history, Stan played for the NFL's Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks, but after an injury he became a coach and defensive coordinator. Some years later Stan went back to school and received a PhD in Sports Psychology and a Masters degree in Organizational Communication. Doctor Stan Ellsworth (remember the PhD), has also taught history to Highland High School students in Salt Lake City, Utah. See more...
