One of the main characters in the book is also called 'Jed' and many of the scenes featured in the film are mentioned in this book (such as drug trafficking, transsexual Thai prostitutes, etc). Question: In the scene where Bridget tries to purchase a pregnancy test, the lady behind the counter holds up a box, and then a box of condoms. I was just wondering what the first box actually was?

Answer: Tablets for digestion problems.

Question: Was Rebecca a lesbian in the book? I read book 2 a year ago but I cant recall her 'coming out'. Also, did Mark and Bridget get engaged?

Answer: No, Rebecca isn't gay in the book, and Mark and Bridget do not get engaged.

Question: In the book, Jude marries Vile Richard and Uncle Geoffrey is discovered to be gay and has a 'toy boy'. These are two major story-lines in the book, and to the films, because Jude is Bridget's best friend and Uncle Geoffrey is made out be be a sex/woman mad freak, so why were they dropped? And also, could we therefore see the story-lines in a possible third movie?

Answer: These storylines were probably cut out because they focus on secondary characters other than Bridget, which are usually the first things to go in movie adaptions of novels. Even if they had been included, it wouldn't have been more than a passing mention.

Question: Given that in the book she's lusting after Colin Firth, but the films star Colin Firth as someone else, does anyone know for sure what's being done? Is it someone acting the part of Colin Firth, or will it be another celebrity playing themselves? Given filming's probably finished by now, there must be a definitive answer...

Answer: While there were rumours that a different celebrity was to be used - George Clooney was mooted - according to Renee Zellweger, that sequence is not in the film.
