Revealing: When Ash shoots Cheryl through the door in the head, you can clearly see the hose (not an artery) that's squirting out the blood.

According to Bruce Campbell, the Oldsmobile is in this movie and every other Sam Raimi movie because Sam lost his virginity in that car. See more...
The Evil Dead (1981) - 44 mistakes
Directed by Sam Raimi, starring Bruce Campbell (add more)
Visible crew/equipment: When the cellar door 'opens itself' look very close, and for a few seconds you can see the arm of a crew member pushing up the cellar door, then quickly pulling their arm back down.
Continuity: Evil Shelley wears red and white patterned socks as we see when Scotty pulls her out from the fireplace. Later when Scotty is dismembering her with the axe, he hits her ankles, and the socks are now all-red, thick, woolly socks which are longer in length too.
Continuity: At dinner, Cheryl starts pouring a drink. It cuts and she’s now suddenly unwrapping foil.
Revealing: In all the nighttime scenes in the woods where the moon is shown, you can see the clear edges of the matte they used to show the moon. The color of the entire woods set is almost black except for the navy blue "rectangle" around the moon.
Revealing: The actors' haircuts change a few times. This is noticeable when Scotty pulls back the bath curtain, and his hair is rather long and thick, but when he turns around, his hair is much shorter. Also, Linda's hair is short and wavy, but when she turns evil and she and Ash are fighting outside, her hair is very curly.
Continuity: After the recently possessed Cheryl stabs Linda in the ankle with a pencil, she draws back her arm to attack again and her wrist is grabbed by Ash to prevent her from doing so. The shot of the stabbing shows the pencil to be covered with blood, but in the close-up of her being stopped by Ash, no blood on the pencil. The pencil is bloody again in the shot of Cheryl coming after Ash after having tossed him and Linda aside.
Continuity: The design on the box that contains the necklace changes when Ash gives it to his girlfriend.
Continuity: At the end of the film, Ash gets blood splattered over his face, covering it entirely (when Evil Cheryl explodes.) Then in the next shot the blood is just partially dripping down his face.
Continuity: When Scotty honks, and the two guys on the side of the street wave their arms, the window of the car is suddenly open (it was closed before, as can be seen by the reflection) and then again is suddenly closed.
Audio problem: When their car is making a sharp turn at the beginning of the film, you can hear the tires screeching. This could only happen if they were on concrete, not on a dirt road.
Continuity: The clock in living room of the cabin shows 5:52p (approx.) at the time it stops toward the beginning of the film. At the point that Scott is "re-animated" and attacks Ash in the climactic scene, it shows 3:10 until it restarts at the very end. This change is NOT accounted for by the clock running backwards as Ash is coming up from the cellar with the shotgun shells as the next shot of the clock shows it to again be at 5:52.
Continuity: When Ash is about to cut Linda with the chainsaw, you get a close up of her necklace, and it is visible, just under her neck. But in the next wide shot, the necklace is further down on top of her dress.
Revealing: Watch the part when Ash takes the large wooden cabinet to block the door so Evil Cheryl can‘t get in. Evil Scotty suddenly sits up, however watch Ash in the background. He jolts, then the shot freezes.
Revealing: When Ash is exploring the basement, he only has a lantern that would cast a flickering yellow light for illumination. Instead, all of the basement is lit with strong, steady white light, awfully like stage lights...
Continuity: When Cheryl is trying to get in the front door, and Ash is pushing against it, Cheryl manages to get her hand in the door. Ash hits it with the end of his gun, which gets blood all over the side of the door and the wall. But in the next shot, the blood has vanished.
Continuity: When the pipe bursts over him and spills out about a water tower's worth of blood, it covers him, completely soaked him and then when you look at him after the burst, he's cleaner than ever.
Deliberate "mistake": When they are listening to the tape, Cheryl yells out and shuts it off. Scott says he wants to hear the rest of it, but then deliberately fast-forwards it a bit before starting it playing. If he wanted to hear the rest of it, why does he skip part of it? This allowed Cheryl to shut it off as soon as she finished her line/action, but then Scott could fast-forward it past a mark on the visible reel-to-reel tape so it would start immediately on the chanting rather than in the middle of the lecture where Cheryl stopped it.
Continuity: After the dead possesses Cheryl to draw the book of the dead in her sketch pad, in the last shot of the pad as Cheryl lifts it up, the drawing has additional and extended lines and smudges have appeared/disappeared.
Revealing: When Ash is leaving the cabin at the end, you can see the holes made by Evil Cheryl were obviously cut by saws: the left one is almost a perfect pentagon and they're cut cleanly all the way through.
