Continuity: When Indy is chasing after the truck on horseback, he jumps off the horse and onto the truck, as he does this the horse begins to slow down and fall behind, but as Indy throws the German soldier in the passenger seat out of the truck the horse has disappeared, it could not have been hidden from view behind the truck, because the horse's shadow would have been visible.

Revealing: When the German staff car comes into the market place to find no truck, watch as Dietrich hurls the melon - the SS guy in the front is obviously a dummy for this one shot.

Other: When Belloq and his men reach the town of Cairo after being swiped by Indy and the van with the Ark inside, notice Ronald Lacey's character Toht. In this entire scene you don't see his face, totally shadowed by his hat - his head doesn't even move! Was Ronald unavailable for filming and hired a double...?

Other: When Indy is in the Well of Souls trying to climb the statue, there is a snake on it. How did it manage to get there? Submitted by Dr Wilson

Continuity: While Indy is fighting the German who is driving the truck, you can see that the German has got blood on his left hand, but when he throws Indy through the windscreen his left hand is clean and there is no blood on it.

Factual error: During the car chase scene, they drive past several cliffs, and one car goes flying off the cliff. One problem with this, there are no big cliffs that close to Cairo.

Audio problem: At the beginning of the film, one of the guides goes to shoot Indy with a gun, but as Indy uses the whip to defend himself, the gun bounces off a rock and goes into the water. As the gun hits the rock you hear the sound of the gun firing, but there is no sign of a flash from the barrel or any gun smoke.

Continuity: Several times during the fight in and around the truck the bars around the top of the cab come off and are miraculously back on again.

Continuity: When Indy is fighting the Nazis on the truck, one Nazi is thrown from the truck and is rolling the opposite direction of the truck.

Factual error: When Indy meets the government agents who are trying to get him to assist their quest to find Ravenwood, one of the agents is dressed appropriately for the time period; the other one (I think the actor is Bill Hootkins) is dressed in what appears to be a late 1970's style polyester light blue leisure suit. The style of the suit just doesn't fit the 1930's period.

Continuity: The fight scene in Marion's bar clearly shows Indy using an automatic pistol to shoot at the bad guys. You can see the slide lock open when he runs out of ammo. But when the scene switches he is holding a revolver. Then when the huge guy is strangling Indy and the German says, "Shoot them, shoot them both." Indy is once again holding an automatic.

Revealing: In the scene where Indy fights the driver of the Nazi truck, the windshield is smashed when Indy is thrown through it, but there is no wind. Look at the driver's hair, not one stirs from a breeze while driving a fast moving truck with no windshield?

Continuity: There's a shot of the plane at the beginning, taken from the front, looking down the length of the body, where there's no writing on the side.

Continuity: In the market chase scene Marion is confronted by a guy with a knife. If you look closely you will see that the knife has turned around in one shot, so that the blade is no longer pointing towards her.

Factual error: When the movie opens, it shows that they are in South America. The iconography on everything is poorly copied Maya iconography (Central America). The gold idol that Indy takes is a copy of a real artifact that was recovered in Central America - a birthing god. If you look closely, you will see that it is a woman squatting, and a baby's head is popping out between her legs. This is a fairly accurate representation of the actual artefact. EXCEPT that the original isn't gold. Actually if you were to have an idol that size made of gold it would weigh a lot. Much more than one guy could toss around with one hand, even Indiana Jones.

Revealing: When Indy is running through the cave and finds the spy that took the artifact with spikes through him, he brushes up against the dummy and it shakes like rubber and the light bounces off it like rubber.
