Continuity: Sallah and Indy are peering into the well of souls. Sallah is to the right of Indy. Indy then drops the torch into the well, and when the camera comes back up, Sallah is on the left of Indy.

Other: Where is all the light coming from in the Well of Souls, even after the entrance was re-sealed, and the only torch still burning went out?

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene at the beginning of the movie where Indy is running from the large boulder, if you look at the left side of the boulder, you can see a stick or post attached to the boulder as it is rolling towards him.

Factual error: The German submarine that Indy stows away on has the number 26 on its side. The U-26 was a Type IA U-boat (it came into service in 1936 and was sunk in 1940), but the sub in the movie seems to be a Type VIIB or VIIC. It's true that the two types looked fairly similar, but they were different classes of U-boat.

Factual error: Indy's satchel is a Mk VII gas mask bag, which was created for use in World War II, so it didn't even exist at the time the film takes place (1936). The similar Mk V existed at the time, though.

Continuity: As Indiana writes "Neolithic" on the blackboard in his classroom at the beginning of the movie, he stops and checks to see if he's spelling it right, then finishes writing it. Later shots of the board reveal the same word on the board, only either the handwriting is different or the actual structure of the word has changed.

Continuity: When Indy is in the map room, he blows sand away from a hole and a bunch of hieroglyphics, but in the next shot, there's sand scattered all over the stone he just finished clearing away.

Continuity: In the scene where Indy is being lowered into the map room, the exterior shot of the opening does not match the interior. From the outside, the wall around the opening is a lot thicker. The angle is also different.

Revealing: For the well full of snakes, Steven and Lucas didn't have enough when they had the scene prepared. So Spielberg had several hoses cut up and disguised as cobras. If you look carefully you can see which snakes are real and which are fake.

Revealing: When Indy and Marion are being sealed up in the Well of Souls, You can plainly see Marion counting down (she is mouthing the numbers) to the cue for her to scream as the Well is sealed.

Continuity: When Indiana is climbing the statue to escape from the Well of Souls, the snake he encounters makes a rattling sound. However, the snake has no rattle and rattlesnakes are indigenous to the Americas.

Continuity: Near the middle of Marion's introductory scene in her bar in Nepal - after Indy has left the bar - she sits down at a table and pulls the medallion out from the front of her shirt where it was hidden, hanging on a chain around her neck. The next shot shows her laying it on the table, chain and all, without lifting the chain over her head.

Other: When the truck is hidden and the German staff car goes in a circle, Dietrich grabs some kind of melon and throws it to the ground. Then he says to the German driver "Go" in English. It is highly unlikely that he would say that instead of "gehen sie" which he does not.

Factual error: At the beginning, while Indy and his two native guides are slogging through the Peruvian rain forest, one of the birdcalls in the background is that of an Australian kookaburra.

Continuity: During the middle of the bar fight scene, Indy was slammed on the counter and whispered to the girl, "Whisky". In the next shot she grabbed the bottle and handed it to Jones. The very next shot she hands him the bottle again. It happens very quick. Watch carefully.

Continuity: The stone block Indy pushes out to create an opening which allows him and Marion to escape the Well Of Souls apparently rolls down the hill outside. We see it, in a following scene, laying about 15 feet away from the Well. But when Indy is fighting the big German guard near the airplane, one scene clearly shows the Well in the background and the dislodged stone is now laying on the hill only a few feet from the opening.

Continuity: Before the shoot-out in Marion's bar, after the creepy Nazi asks her for the amulet, she's sitting alone at the table. She pulls the amulet out of her shirt, the chain still around her neck, and stares at it in the candlelight. The next moment the chain is not around her neck and she hangs the necklace onto the table centrepiece.

Continuity: When Indy is running through the streets of Cairo looking for the men carrying Marion in a basket, the sweat stain on the back of his shirt shrinks and grows.

Continuity: In the chase through Cairo streets - Indy rounds the corner of the plaza in which the truck (supposedly holding Marion in a basket is kept) - as Indy comes around the corner, a baddie shoots at him with a machine gun - watch this closely, the gun moves in the opposite direction as the bullets on the ground.

Continuity: During the scene where Indy and Marcus are with the Army intelligence agents, watch the agent who is wearing the light blue suit - at the moment when Marcus refers to a secret chamber, the agent in the blue suit has his right hand resting on top the chair that he is sitting on, but in the next shot when he replies "secret chamber" his right hand is now on his face.
