Continuity mistake: In the first scene when Maverick enters the airbase on his motorcycle it is mid-morning based on the sun and shadows. When he takes off in the test jet it is pre-dawn.
Suggested correction: The movie sequencing/reveal is shoddy for this. Prior to him uncovering the motorcycle and heading out he slaps the calendar on the wall where it says, If I recall, "Mach 8." the day before on the calendar says something like "training" or "physical test" or something (I honestly forgot). That happens the first day ("afternoon") as shown with him on the treadmill; he sleeps on-base to get up "pre-dawn" and that's when the admiral arrives and he takes off.
This shot is likely referring to the fact that at Mach 10 he's travelling so fast towards the west that the sun (which only just set) appears to be rising again, as he outraces the darkness.
Travelling that far west would bring aircraft and pilot well over the pacific. No chance to find a lift back there.
I've watched this movie many more times since my comment. The runway assigned is "21", which has a heading of 210°, roughly southwest. This puts him facing the setting sun, but at his speed he's covering such a distance that he's actually seeing it "set" again. Even with the turn, the POV of the breakup appears still heading west. Somehow he ends up in rural (Northern?) California, walking all night to arrive at the diner for breakfast.
Continuity mistake: At 00:41:28, When Otto sits in his car, the steering wheel has no logo of the car's brand, but later on 01:08:45 the car's brand (Chevrolet) is visible when Marisol drives the car. (00:41:28 - 01:08:45)
Continuity mistake: The first time we see the scene of Birdie sitting poolside waxing about her and Miles' fame, she brings her left hand up to hold down the side of her large hat, which obscures the camera from seeing Ms. Brand sitting down next to her, and when done speaking she pulls the hat down from the brim. When the scene is shown later a second time from Brand's point of view, when Birdie is talking she isn't holding the side of her hat, and takes it off from the top.
Continuity mistake: When Priscilla meets Elvis in Germany the position of the letters on the bed and of the papers scattered on the floor change positions between shots.
Continuity mistake: When the moderator tells Lydia "I couldn't help but notice you flinch just a little bit", Lydia has her right hand placed firmly on an armrest. When the shot cuts, her right hand is away from the arm rest. (00:09:15)

Continuity mistake: At the pleasure island before Lampwick gets into the wheel of fortune, he has his glass full of beer, then it is empty, then full again.
Continuity mistake: At the end, the French soldier tries to kill Paul in the wet mud. When they finish struggling and spot the pistol on the floor, the mud on Paul's face is now dried and caked on.
Continuity mistake: In Riri Williams' dorm room, the number of braids hanging over her shoulder changes frequently while Riri and Shuri are talking.
Continuity mistake: Alan goes into his appointment with Dr. Fredericks at 5:08, and it is still 5:08 on the wall clock when he leaves her office. (00:10:20 - 00:14:03)
Continuity mistake: Solomon put the rope around his waist underneath his coat, but when he was walking through the woods the rope was tied over his coat. Also, the knot would start out in the front of his left side but change to behind his back even though the rope was loose (not taut) behind him. (00:01:55 - 00:02:26)
Continuity mistake: The sky (sun versus clouds and color - blue, white, or gray) changes frequently during the few minutes when Lara is leaving the site until she returns to retrieve her bag. Before she falls into the hole, the sun is shown near the horizon, about to set, but the sun is shining on her in the hole. A setting sun would not be able to emit rays into a distant hole. Continuity mistake: When Harry wrapped Lily's ankle injury, there was bloody wrapping below the duct tape. When Karl asked to see Lily's leg, there was no blood showing on the material below the tape. Also, Harry did not completely cover the ankle injury with duct tape like he did to keep creatures from smelling the blood on Lily's stomach cut, questioning why the creatures could not smell the blood on Lily's ankle. Continuity mistake: At various points throughout the movie, the position of the lamp on the end table (to Charlie's left where he usually sits on the couch) changes, from the base being in the back corner, to mid-way along the chair's arm, to being centered along the rear edge, to near the middle of the table, etc. As the lamp's position changes, the other objects on the table also change. Suggested correction: "At various points throughout the movie" so he moved his lamp. If the shots aren't consecutive (screenshot, please) this is not a continuity error.
Continuity mistake: The wall clock, after staying at around 10:12, jumps 4 minutes (to 10:16) in less than 20 seconds. (00:01:05)
Continuity mistake: Kol shouts, "Stop the car!" Adam slams on the brakes from a cruising speed, yet miraculously, the car is bumper-to-bumper with a parked red SUV. When Kol gets back into Adam's car, the red SUV should be visible. However, outside of the windshield, there is a white blur. A car drives close by on a perpendicular road that wasn't there before Adam stopped. (00:15:48 - 00:16:20)
Continuity mistake: In the funeral scene, Bruce Wayne's hair changes lengths.
Continuity mistake: Jackie holds her pen as she takes notes. Next, her pen is set on the legal pad and her hands are on her lap (below the table and pen). The camera returns to Jackie, and she continues to hold the pen as she takes notes the whole time. (This allows for other questionable variations that could occur off-screen, if enough time.)
