Emergency!

School Days - S2-E14

Question: Who are the two baseball players that walk up to the nurses' station to talk about their teammate and discuss his relationship status with his girlfriend to Dixie?

Answer: I took a screenshot of the two actors, with Rod Perry on the right. Hopefully someone will know the name of the actor on the left. Both actors are uncredited in the episode's credits. Screenshot.

Answer: The guy on the right is actor, Rod Perry. He played Deacon on the '70s TV show S.W.A.T., two years later (and now I'm humming its theme song). As for the actor on the left, I recognize his face and voice, but I can't recall from which TV show, movie, or perhaps a soap opera.

The Mouse - S4-E20

Question: The old man that comes in with his wife that can't breathe, the one that the head nurse tries to counsel and tempts him with a cup of coffee. I believe he is Alfred Hitchcock, though his name is not listed anywhere. Alfred Hitchcock is known for his cameo appearances in his own shows and in other shows. Can someone confirm that this is him? This is driving me nuts... It is toward the end of the episode, but I cannot give you times.

Answer: I believe you are speaking of the old man, Mr. Wilson. He's played by J. Pat O'Malley.

Bishop73

Correct, it was J. Pat O'Malley...he also played the grandfather with his grandson when their rocket exploded, and also played "Old Bill" in the episode with Ann Prentiss, where Gage saves the little girl from the burning tree house, and her mother falls in love with him.

Show generally

Question: Why is the driveway in front of the station always wet? Day or night, whenever they pull in or out it looks like it was just hosed down.

Answer: It is standard practice to wet down driveways so that they stand out in a long shot.

Show generally

Question: In quite a few episodes of Emergency there is a character that the doctors and other nurses call Nurse Carol. She is the older nurse with dark hair. I would say she is on at least a fourth of all episodes in all seasons yet I can not see this actress getting credited or listed as uncredited anywhere. I wonder if she was an actual nurse. Does any one know who she was. Yes there also were a couple of other actresses who played a nurse named Carol on one or two episodes and they are listed in the episode guides. She also is the patient with her arm in the cast talking to Dr. Morton in the episode 6:18 Firehouse Quintet.

Answer: On IMDB, actress Anne Schedeen is listed as playing Nurse Carol on six episodes from 1974-76.

Surprise - S4-E6

Question: When the guys are hanging off the roof does anyone else see a white wire attached to the sign?

Answer: Yes, there's a thin cable secured to the sign's bottom mounting bracket which leads upward to the crane arm, and can be seen in quite a few shots at various angles. It's reasonable to presume that this cable which is secured to the crane was part of the sign's mounting process to the two wall brackets before the winds caused the accident, the premise of this rescue. For this reason it really can't be noted as "stunt wires being visible" or something like that.

Computer Terror - S6-E9

Question: Does anyone know the name of the actress that plays Thaddeus (the dog's) Mom on season 6's "Computer Terror?" I don't think I've seen her anywhere else. I looked it up on IMDb and it's not listed (uncredited). I even tried google but no luck. Also, does anyone know the name of the actor who played her husband? He does look familiar, but can't place him.

Answer: The husband, Wilbur, is actor Frank Aletter. The wife, Marion, is played by Sandy Balson.

Dinner Date - S2-E10

Question: When Melissa Gilbert yells "daddy" and runs towards the ambulance to see her father, starting to go down the porch steps. Then we quickly see her father being loaded into the ambulance, then the camera returns to Melissa. She's down the steps entirely and starts to run to her dad and runs right into Roy's arms. He doesn't bend down to hold/hug her at all, she goes right into his arms as though she's the same height as Roy. There is a wall aside of the steps but she's nowhere near it when Roy hugs her. How is she the same height as Roy?

Answer: There's actually a YouTube clip of this. There's a couple of things to consider. First, when Melissa runs towards Roy, he does bend down a little and then picks her up. I also noticed both actors are filmed from the waist up. When Melissa is running to Roy, she is taller than what she'd normally be. It looks like she might be running on an unseen raised platform. This would be done probably to make it easier to pick up Melissa, and also to frame the actors in the scene so they are more head-to-head, and both are more visible. Otherwise, Melissa would be much lower in the shot.

The Mouse - S4-E20

Revealing mistake: At the apartment complex fire, after Johnny is knocked unconscious by the explosion, when the Pasadena fireman finds him and has to lift him up, it's funny how even though Johnny's unconscious we can see that he actually helps to stand himself up, so the fireman can lift him up and carry him out.

The Game - S6-E1

Trivia: It's in this episode that the Heimlich Maneuver is used for the first time by the paramedics. At the USC game, when a guy is choking on a hot dog, John and Roy are called, and John uses the Heimlich. Up until season 6 we've seen the guys use other methods, such as the ChokeSaver which look like huge white tweezers, to remove obstructions in an airway, as seen in 4x9, "Foreign Trade."
