Doctor Who

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Continuity mistake: When everyone is being escorted into the silo after escaping the Futurekind, they all have mud splattered on their clothes - it's especially noticeable with the Doctor, Padra and Jack. Inside the silo, the mud has disappeared. (00:12:20)

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor gets the rocket to work by tinkering with the boost reversal circuit, he picks it up with his left hand, sonics it, and then transfers it to his right hand, all in a shot where he has his back to the camera. In the next shot, facing him, he's holding it in his left hand as he pulls something off the device. The shot after that, facing Professor Yana again, the circuit is back in his right hand. (00:18:50)

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Character mistake: When the Futurekind spy starts sabotaging the silo's systems, and Chantho notes that they're losing power, she says, "We're losing power-tho!" - forgetting the "Chan-" prefix that she starts anything she says with, in order to not swear by her species' standards. (00:27:00)

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Other mistake: When Professor Yana shows Martha his pocket watch, which she comes to realise is a Chameleon Arch, she initially finds it familiar from the appearance of the back, and eventually asks him if she can see the front. Before she eventually sees the front of the watch, there is a shot where the front is hidden to the camera, but should be perfectly visible to Martha, just as Yana says "It's old. It's not meant to be." (00:34:40)

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Other mistake: The stet radiation in the red room is able to disintegrate living beings, with the exception of the immortal Jack. People not going in the room are shown to stay out of the line of the door when it's being opened, lest they be disintegrated. When Jack comes out of the room after having finished in there, the Doctor, telephoning the rocket, is in line with the open door yet remains completely fine. (00:35:15)

Utopia (1) - S3-E11

Continuity mistake: When the Master takes the disc with the location of Utopia out of the computer, the exact spot he's holding it changes between shots. (00:40:55)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor fixes Jack's vortex manipulator so they can escape the silo, Martha and Jack are holding the lab door mostly closed against a horde of Futurekind. In the shot where the trio time-travels away, the Futurekind, some of whom had stuck their hands through the gap in the door, are missing. (00:00:40)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the Cabinet meeting, when the Master says, "Thank you. Thank you, one and all," in a wide shot, he turns his head to his right. In a close-up immediately afterwards, his head is facing straight ahead. (00:04:00)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: During the Cabinet meeting, when the Master stands up as he says, "That wasn't funny," in a shot from behind he places both hands on the table as he rises. In the next shot, facing him, his right hand is suddenly by his chin. (00:04:10)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor talks about how the Master was always sort of hypnotic, in a wide shot, Martha is sitting on the end of her couch, with her hands loosely folded, with her left hand on top. In the shot of her where she says she was going to vote for Harold Saxon, her right hand is on top. In the next wide shot, her hands have reverted to their original position. (00:12:05)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When Martha starts to phone her family, after the Doctor warns her not to tell them anything, as she snaps in response, "I'll do what I like!", in the first shot she's holding her phone away from her body, but in the second shot it's jumped to her ear. (00:14:25)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: After the Master calls Winters "the last President of America", in a shot from behind him and Lucy, he has his hands by his sides. In the next shot, facing them, the Master has his hands clasped behind him. (00:31:35)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: On the Valiant's bridge, when the Doctor is telling Martha and Jack about his plan to slip one of the perception filter keys around the Master's neck while holding his key, the position of the key changes in his hand, from being held by the wide end to being held by the narrow end. (00:37:15)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Factual error: When introducing himself to the Toclafane, President Winters refers to himself as "President-elect of the United States of America." President-elect is the title given to the victor of an American presidential election who has not yet been sworn in, between early November and January 20. This was a mistake on Russell T Davies' part, as he was under the impression it was a longer, formal title for the American president. (00:37:40)

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Factual error: The army shoot at Martha's car and you can see sparks where the bullets bounce off her windscreen. But, at that close range, one of those things can go through a brick! I know you're supposed to allow a bit of disbelief, but this is taking it too far.

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When the Master stands up on the Valiant to announce that he is the Toclafane's "Master", President Winters is visible in the background, only the Toclafane aren't there. In the next shot, they return, buzzing around Winters' head.

Suggested correction: This seems to be caused by angles - the Toclafane are floating fairly high up, around the level of Winters' shoulders and above, but the Master is lower down. Hence, why they're not visible in the shot.

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Factual error: When they are running over the bridge, supposedly in London, you can see the Heddlu sign on the police station (Heddlu is Welsh for police). You can also see a Cardiff bus at the bus stop underneath.

Season 1 generally

Question: 1. Why was Rose not allowed to touch her past self without creating a paradox and causing those creatures to appear and eat everyone, but Amy was allowed to touch her younger self without any repercussions? 2. Why was Rose able to have the time vortex in her head for a few minutes and it only knocked her unconscious whereas the Doctor had it inside him for about 30 seconds and it basically killed him and caused his regeneration?

strikeand

Chosen answer: 1) When Stephen Moffat took over he ignored a lot of what had been developed before (there is not in-universe answer). 2) It would have killed Rose, so the Doctor absorbed the energy. His body regenerated before the energy could do a significant amount of damage that would prevent regeneration.
