CSI: Miami

Show generally

Character mistake: In the episode with the airplane murder they claim that oil is heavier than water, which isn't true under any circumstances. Oil is less dense and consequently lighter than water.

Bunk - S1-E13

Character mistake: Horatio writes the symbols for sulfuric acid, H2SO4, on a clear board. Both numbers should be subscripts but he writes the 4 as a coefficient (which precedes the name of the acid but he writes it after), suggesting a lack of basic chemistry knowledge.

Dead Woman Walking - S1-E15

Character mistake: Horatio twice reads an extract from a letter threatening the life of the poisoned woman. The first time, he reads, "If you ever try to contact us again we will kill you," and the second time, "If you ever try to contact me again I will kill you." A close up of the letter shows it to read, "If you ever try to contact me again i'll (sic) kill you".

Shootout - S3-E12

Character mistake: When Calleigh is with the medical examiner, she says that "Togo" is holding down the scene at the hospital, stating the actor's actual last name instead of Wolfe, his character name. (00:08:25)

Reality Kills - S9-E6

Character mistake: Natalia professes not to know why the Statue of Liberty is green. The hue is the result of the natural oxidation of the statue's copper skin, a chemical reaction it's impossible to believe the crime lab's resident expert in chemistry doesn't know.

Going Under - S5-E2

Continuity mistake: In the first part of the flashback to the deliberate collision with Calleigh's Hummer, no piece of the pick-up grill stuck to the Hummer's rear end. But seconds later it appears.

Tinder Box - S1-E22

Trivia: Because the episode 'Tinder Box' closely resembled (and was likely based on) the fire at a nightclub in Rhode Island that killed 100 people, the local CBS affiliate decided not to air the episode so soon after the event.
