Band of Brothers

Crossroads - S1-E5

Continuity mistake: In part 5 when Easy company surprises the two sleeping German companies, with Winters leading the charge. Winters crosses the berm and a sleeping German stands up, and gets shot. Winters then shoots off 9 more rounds (2 too many), then reloads, drops to one knee and only shoots 6 rounds (2 too few), and in both cases the clip ejects as if it were a normal 8 round firing sequence.

Why We Fight - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: When Cpt. Nixon is running out of booze while he is playing poker with some other officers he is going out to take a walk. After a while he stops in front of a shop window and smashes a petrol can from a nearby jeep through the glass. There is a big hole in the window but not big enough for him to get through. Two shots later there is no glass at all in the shop window even though he never had the time to remove the rest of it.

Why We Fight - S1-E9

Factual error: At the beginning of the episode it says is April 11, 1945, the men are listening to the 4 piece then it goes to a month earlier. At the end of the episode, it returns to this exact scene where Nixon announces, "Hitler is dead." Hitler didn't commit suicide until ten days after his birthday, the 20th, on April 30.

Currahee - S1-E1

Factual error: In the scene at the end of Part 1 where the aircraft are taking off on June 5 1944, as the camera pulls out to show the many aircraft rolling down the tarmac, the first aircraft shows the pilot wearing a pale green headset remarkably similar to a David Clark headset. However, the Clark company didn't start producing headsets until after the war.

The Patrol - S1-E8

Factual error: When Malarkey and Jones are talking at the window, you can see a shot of the village Haguenau. Actually it is almost the same set-up of Foy again. Refer to the church. (00:15:35)

Crossroads - S1-E5

Trivia: In the scene where the Red Devils toast the 101st Airborne, when the camera shows the assembled soldiers you'll see Tom Hanks as one of the Red Devils in a beret at the back left (5 or 6 men in) with his right hand on his hip. His head moves forwards to become obscured behind another soldier. (00:30:30)

Answer: To mess with him. A lot of the "regular" soldiers didn't respect or even like Webster early on because he was a college boy. That dislike and lack of respect was deepened when Webster took what they perceived to be an extended stay in hospital after being wounded when many of their other comrades - Popeye for example - left hospital early to get back with their friends to fight.

He couldn't leave hospital early because he was in England. The wound in Band of Brothers was perceived a lot less serious than it was, and a lot of easy men were happy to have him back, especially Luz.

If you read the literature around Band of Brothers, you'll find that Kenyon Webster was perceived as a slacker in the sense that, while not precisely a coward, would never volunteer to put himself in harm's way. He only did as told and nothing more. So, regardless of the reasons why he really couldn't go back to Easy, his friends were predisposed to feel he was slacking off at the hospital while they were risking their lives.
