Con Air (1997)

Question: Why does Cyrus not believe Cusack when he tells him that one of the guards faked a heart attack and that's how they were found out?

dan coakley..

Chosen answer: Probably because Cusack interrupted Colm Meaney in the first place. Also he probably knew Cusack would lie about whatever excuse he gave.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Question: In the scene where Mr. Orange, Mr. Pink, Mr. White and Nice Guy Eddie are driving to the meeting, Nice Guy Eddie calls Steve Buscemi "Mr. Pink." How did Nice Guy Eddie know that his name was going to be Mr. Pink before they went to the meeting?

dan coakley..

Chosen answer: Joe is his father. They probably planned the crime together.

LorgSkyegon

Yes, but why didn't Mr. Pink respond to that? At that time, Mr. Pink didn't know that his name was going to be Mr. Pink. If someone suddenly and unexpectedly gives you a name like that, wouldn't you be surprised?

He could have already been told that it was going to go like that so that he wouldn't tell Mr. White or Mr. Orange his name, and then once it was brought up at the meeting, he asked why he had to be that color.

Answer: Or, Why was he shocked to find out he is Mr. Pink later on if he was cool with it in the car?

Sounds like it was just a blooper/mistake.

Braveheart (1995)

Chosen answer: Just like he said, it would dull his wits and not leave him fully lucid the next day when he had to face the torture.

LorgSkyegon

He wanted his full awareness so he didn't accidentally yell for mercy.

Answer: Because it's a reference to what his Father's last words to him were at the beginning of the film before he was killed, 'I know you can fight but it's our wits that makes us men'. That's why Wallace says to the Princess, 'It will dull my wits and I must have them always'.

Question: Does anybody know why Bud is so poor, living in a trailer and working as a bouncer? Should he not be rich from being an assassin? Also, Bill looks rich enough, and Bud is his brother; why doesn't he give Bud some money?

dan coakley..

Chosen answer: Bud has been done with the assassin life for some time. Given that he's a bouncer/janitor at a bad strip club, it's quite likely he made poor decisions with whatever money he had. As for Bill giving him money, it's certainly possible that either Bill cut him off or that Bud refused Bill's help.

American Psycho (2000)

Question: Do we know what Patrick does to the 2 girls he takes back to his flat? We see his instruments in his drawer but then they leave in the next scene.

Awesomo

Chosen answer: He tortures them. You can see them bleeding as they leave. Christy also says she had to have surgery afterwards.

LorgSkyegon

Chosen answer: During a mission known as the "Leningrad Ruse." He and his flight squadron were sent unknowingly on a suicide mission. During it, his goggles cracked and let in a poisonous gas, paralyzing his iris. He has to wear the patch because his eye can't focus against bright light, causing pain. This is mentioned in the novelization.

Equilibrium (2002)

Question: When Preston goes into Father's office to face off against Brandt and DuPont, he is surrounded by several guys in gray suits with swords. Just before Preston cuts them down with little effort, the one directly in front of him growls and Preston smirks. The guy that growls... who is he? I could swear I have seen him in a movie or something before, but I can't place where. I know I have seen his face before. Who is he and what has he played in?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: He is a stuntman named Lucas Wolf. His filmography can be found here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1705173/.

Question: At the end, Yoda tells Obi-Wan that he will meet Qui-Gon again. Is this true? And if so, why and what will Qui-Gon tell him?

Pikarol

Chosen answer: Qui-Gon is the first Jedi in generations that has lived beyond death as a Force ghost. That is what he is to teach and tell both Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Question: I've always wondered, but what is the scene about at the beginning of the film before the titles? Is it just there to showcase the team or is there another reason?

Heather Benton

Chosen answer: It's an excuse to show off the team, as well as the reason they are already in Eastern Europe.

Question: OK I have a few questions about this. (1) Who blew up the car with Hannah? Was it Jim or Clare? (2) Ethan taunts Krieger because he has the real NOC list, but was it also because Ethan knew he was a traitor and wanted him to walk out? (3) At the end when Ethan is disguised as Phelps, he is wearing the same trenchcoat as the real Phelps (who then shows up). Is this because he knew Jim was onboard, or simply cause he knew how his old boss loved to dress? (4) And lastly after Clare is killed, Hunt acts devastated and goes after Jim in anger. Given that she was a traitor who was always on Jim's side (and might even have killed Hannah), why would Hunt feel this way at all?

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: 1) Jim most likely did it when he emerged from the water (as seen in the flashbacks/Ethan's theory, but it's hard to be 100% certain). 2) Ethan was just fooling Krieger. He didn't know he was a traitor yet. 3) Ethan likely knew exactly what Jim was wearing, as he planned the whole thing all along. 4) He's upset because Jim just murdered his wife to escape, someone who until very recently Ethan still considered his friend. You can't just turn loyalty off like that.

LorgSkyegon

Answer: Claire killed Hannah. Ethan didn't want to believe it. Jim had no way of knowing when Hannah was in the car.

The Karate Kid (1984)

Question: Bobby doesn't take part in the fight after the Halloween dance and even tries to get the gang to stop beating up Daniel, so why does he attack Miyagi after he saves him from Johnny's kick?

Answer: Because this is no longer simply beating up someone who is at their mercy, this is some strange guy coming in and taking his friends apart.

LorgSkyegon

I always thought Bobby was the bad/ good guy, because he didn't like to hurt Daniel or make trouble, he even felt bad for that kick to the side, that almost knocked Daniel out of the tournament, he was forced into doing it from Kreese and even apologized to Daniel, I think he just went along with the rest of the guys, to fit in with the gang.

General questions

I am searching for a movie that I believe was made in the 90s.The plot involves a teenage girl who runs away for the summer due to family problems (from what I can remember it was stepmother in particular.) She ends up staying with her brother for the summer, who I believe lives on or by a lake. Her family finds out from her brother that she is there and follows her. This includes her mother and other extended family. I vaguely remember a pregnant girlfriend of a family member who falls in love with someone else (the brother perhaps?) And stays with him in the the end. I also remember a sister who falls in love. I saw this on TV, so it may have been a made for TV movie. Does this movie sound familiar?

Answer: That would be 1992's "Big Girls Don't Cry... They Get Even".

Question: What is the name of the airport that is featured during the ending scene in which Carl is following Frank and tells him "Nobody's chasing you" ? Or at least, what airport is it supposed to be?

DialingForDollarhyde

Chosen answer: It is not mentioned, though it is likely Reagan (at the time Washington National) or Dulles, as they both work in Washington DC.

LorgSkyegon

Answer: Yes, though the Draculas could turn him into a vampire.

Show generally

Question: This is a two-part question. 1. In one episode, the SVU team must get a man to confess to committing several murders and if they can't after 24 hours, they have no choice but to let him go. What is the name of this episode? 2. During the interrogation, the man gets up in Detective Stablers face and screams, "I'm a murderer! I'm a murderer! I kill people! What are you gonna do about that?" That sounded like a Confession to me, so why wasn't he immediately arrested?

Answer: 1- It's probably "Rage" from season 6, though there are several similar episodes. 2 - I could go to the police and say I'm a murderer, but without details, it's not really any use. They knew he was just playing with them and wanted to taunt Stabler.

Police Academy (1984)

Question: Why did Mahoney get a medal at the end? All he did was run up a building and got himself taken hostage. Hightower deserved his cause he knocked the guy out, saved Harris and Mahoney and defused the situation. Even if it was for bravery or heroism, Mahoney achieved nothing with his actions and shouldn't have been rewarded.

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Just because you fail in your attempt at heroics doesn't mean you weren't brave as hell for trying. Mahoney knowingly put himself in a very dangerous situation with the sole intent of saving two of his fellow officers. That's bravery.

The Simpsons (1989)

Chosen answer: It is a play on the movie "Little Big Man" starring Dustin Hoffman. In that movie he portrays a white man who lives as an Indian for part of his life.

LorgSkyegon

Question: How did Littlefoot's mother die, when she had so few injuries, but the Sharptooth lived after falling the height it fell. At this point in the movie a earthquake happens, splitting the earth open, and creating cliffs. Littlefoot's mother threw the Sharptooth off of the cliff to save Cera and Littlefoot's lives. But falling of a cliff wouldn't just knock you out, it would kill you. The Sharptooth had no ill effects from the fall, except for being knocked out.

thesimslover828

Chosen answer: Littlefoot's mother has obvious grievous wounds on her neck and back. She also quite possibly has internal injuries as well. It's also possible that Sharptooth had many injuries as well, but was able to heal better or just fought through the pain because of hunger. Or perhaps he fell in ways that lessened injuries.

General questions

I am looking for the title of a movie about a man from the future who falls in love with a woman in the present. He knows she will be struck and killed by a taxi at a certain corner at a certain time. He is forbidden by the time travel rules of his future society from saving her but he tries to anyway, and in fact his attempts to injure the taxi driver the night before are the cause of the accident. But in the end he turns out to have a rare mental ability to alter events simply through the intensity of his love.

Answer: Sounds like "Happy Accidents" starring Marissa Tomei and Vincent D'Onofrio.
