LorgSkyegon

Chosen answer: It's close to "zdrasveetsya" phonetically, which is a colloquial greeting like: "how are you doing".

The Book of Eli (2010)

Question: How does Eli exit the room in Carnegie's tavern? The guard said he was there all night and didn't see or hear anything.

Answer: It seems to imply a miracle escape like Paul and Silas from prison in the bible.

Answer: The Guard must have fallen asleep. You see he even looks tired when approved.

Answer: Did you miss the scene where the guard was lured away from the door, causing him to lie about being there all night?

What scene was that?

Question: How old is Dani? Matthew says they are the same age, but if she is, wouldn't many of the older adults in the movie (Matthew's parents, etc.) expect her to be in school?

Answer: Dani is supposed to be about 19. She would have just finished high school and be ready for college if she was going to go. Many people take a year off before going to college.

rswarrior

Answer: I personally assumed she was 19-20 by everything she does.

Flightplan (2005)

Question: Shouldn't the Arab man have been arrested for assault?

Brad

Chosen answer: Kyle assaulted HIM first when she jumped on top of him and scratched his face so technically she should be arrested.

rswarrior

Answer: Kyle assaulted the Arab man earlier in the film. At the point he threw her down, she was running at him in hysterics. He threw her down out of fear she would hurt him again.

Hotel for Dogs (2009)

Question: Wouldn't the city have found out that someone was using the hotel when there was electricity being used but no-one to pay for it?

Answer: Not until there's a 3 month period where the electricity usage is much higher than normal. Even then, it takes another few months to get it noticed, and another couple of months to send someone out to investigate it.

Halloween (1978)

Question: Why was Michael killing people? There was no mention of his history, or what made him the way he was.

Answer: The only answer given in this film is that Myers is purely and simply evil. He's just doing it because he's compelled to, and doesn't seem to have any trace of humanity left inside of him. Future sequels attempted to give an explanation, but to varying degrees of success. But as far as this original film is concerned - he's just pure evil.

TedStixon

Answer: The movie doesn't require a back story, although subsequent sequels, and the Rob Zombie remake address your questions. Then again, what makes any serial killer kill? The topic has been studied by psychologists for decades. Often serial killers lead normal lives, at least in public.

General questions

Would like to know the title of a comedy, probably from the 90s or early 00s, in which a cop asks for a blond Asian woman. Thanks for any help.

Answer: Sounds like it MAY be Senior Trip from 1995, in which one of the students fantasizes about his ideal woman, who he says is a blonde Asian. He's not a cop, though. He eventually meets a blonde Asian woman in a hotel elevator.

rswarrior

Answer: Actually, the official title is National Lampoon's Senior Trip. A group of kids go wild on a class trip to Washington D.C. One student has a fantasy about an Asian girl. He sees one get into an elevator and climbs in to get her.

The Uninvited (2009)

Question: If Mildred Kemp is in the mental institution under her real name, then why in the article does it say that she is still at large? Is this just part of the delusion that Anna is playing out?

scaryterri

Chosen answer: The newspaper article saying she was still at large was 20 years old. It can safely be assumed that she was caught and put into the institution during that 20 year time frame.

rswarrior

What? I'm still so confused. Are Rachel and Mildred the same person? Who killed the three children?

Anna has a disorder, which is another reason she was in a psychiatric institution and not jail. Her personality disorder is called dissociative identity disorder, where she takes on alters, aspects of her personality who handle stress, when she cannot. Alex and Mildred were alters of hers, which is why Anna thought Rachel was Mildred. The MIldred alter did the things she couldn't do, killing Rachel because she thought she was evil. And a Mildred alter can be thought of wanting to revenge her capture, so why not make a mini Mildred out of Anna?

So Mildred told Anna to kill Rachel?

No... Mildred was in the mental hospital with Anna and told Anna stories about her murdering the children I'm sure (since she asked when Anna left the hospital who she was going to tell her stories too). Anna wanted to kill Rachel to begin with and when she faked being mentally health enough to escape, her intention was to be home to kill her. She did and then goes back to the hospital, where the real Mildred Kemp is.

Answer: No they're two different people. The woman who spoke to Anna at the asylum is Kemp. Rachel just changed her name to escape an abusive ex boyfriend.
