Continuity mistake: As Mitch checks the doors and windows look closely at the table to the left of the brown chair on the bottom left of the screen, it has on it an ash tray very close to a plate and a silver box. The shadow of the brown chair falls on the silver box but the next time we see this table, after Lydia straightens up, the brown chair has been moved away to make room for the camera and its shadow no longer falls on the box. Continuity mistake: Melanie cleans off all the blood on her forehead and in her hair with the Kleenex, but in the next shot there's more blood that appears in her hair than before. (00:27:20)

Continuity mistake: Melanie's car is parked in front of the Bodega Bay bar as she fills out the card to Cathy then she pulls straight forward. In the next shot we see a car parked in front of her that she should have hit. (00:19:15)

Continuity mistake: Annie's body changes position on her front steps. At first her head is on the edge of the sidewalk and Mitch doesn't move her. Then after he runs to get Cathy he comes back and covers her with his jacket and her head moved about six inches from the edge of the gravel sidewalk. (01:30:20 - 01:31:35)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie and Mitch stand by the canary cage she puts the pencil on her chin and it's not there in the next shot. (00:05:00)

The picture of the woman is to the left of the piece of paper but when we see it from the inside as Melanie walks into the store it's reversed. (00:13:15)
