Question: Luke gets everyone together at Jabba's palace in order to rescue Han Solo. Why didn't Luke just get a bunch of Rebel fighters to storm the palace? They had the fleet available, so they could have easily overpowered Jabba and his guards without having to resort to risking all of his friends in an overly complicated rescue attempt, and they wouldn't have had to bother with the whole sarlac pit fight at all.

jbrbbt

Answer: The fleet was getting ready for the final battle to destroy the new Death Star. Rescuing Han was a personal rescue mission for Luke and Leia. As far as the fleet was concerned Han was a causality of war. Quote "The sacrificing of one individual to save millions is the corner stone of any civilisation."

Character mistake: Why didn't Joe, Connie, and the students just run back down to the front entrance of the school? They had plenty of time instead of making the effort of going to the roof.

Suggested correction: No, they couldn't. They barely made it to the roof on time and that was closer than the front entrance.

The Mummy (1999)

Plot hole: If the Medjai are supposed to be the guardians against Imhotep and sworn to make sure he never comes back to life then why weren't they in possession of the key that opened everything in the first place?

Suggested correction: Because it got lost in the centuries that passed. It's possible they don't even know every step on how the mummy can return.

Factual error: It wouldn't have mattered that Ritter had his "autographed get out of jail free card" given to him by Cutter or authorized by the President, it was still an illegal operation that Congress didn't know about. Anyone involved in it would be going to prison regardless of position.

jbrbbt

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The point Ritter is making is the operation was personally authorized by the President behind closed doors. If Cutter and Ritter were arrested for their involvement, they would be pardoned by the President. The President of the United States has the authority to pardon someone even before they have been charged with a federal crime, as Gerald Ford did for Richard Nixon. Jack doesn't have this protection because he is to be the scapegoat if the scandal is exposed.

Speed (1994)

Plot hole: What exactly is the point in Jack speeding up the subway car? He says so it can jump the track but the track wasn't finished anyway. Speeding up the subway at that point would make no difference, he should have just let the subway continue at the speed it was going.

Die Hard 2 (1990)

Plot hole: There is no way the airport personnel could have kept everything going on quiet from the thousands of civilians in the airport. Even if nobody heard the shootout between McClane and the terrorists at the baggage area someone would have found out about the crashing of the Windsor flight.

Trivia: The sound effect of the alarm heard when the liquid nitrogen truck crashes in the steel works factory is the same sound effect heard from the cargo ship that rescues Tom Hanks near the end of "Cast Away."

Arachnophobia (1990)

Factual error: Jerry Manley's corpse wouldn't have been returned to his home town as depicted. He died in a foreign country outside the U.S. from what was thought to have been a fever, his corpse would have been quarantined for possible contamination and autopsied which would have quickly determined his real cause of death from the spider.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Stupidity: Why in the world would Tony of all people leave his old suits in storage WITH the miniature arc reactor still inside the suit? This would have served no purpose to Tony since he already has his own arc reactor in his body.

jbrbbt

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This is a question which is easily answered; Tony had the idea of putting someone else in the suit (like Rhodey) himself. Plus, it's logical to think he has built multiple miniature arc reactors, after the events of the previous movie. Plus, he can probably just as easily switch from arc reactor to arc reactor in his chest when changing suits, so he has a fully powered arc reactor ready in each suit.
