Question: After Harry wakes up in the hospital wing, Hermione was telling Harry that Snape said an incredibly powerful wizard could have produced the patronus that saved Harry and Sirius Black's life. Snape knew how powerful James and Lily were as witches/wizards so did he make the connection? Does Snape know that Harry made the patronus? even though Snape already knows Harry is destined to destroy Voldemort.

Answer: Snape woke up after the Patronus was conjured, only seeing the Dementors flying away from the scene. Harry nor Snape did not know who made the Patronus (it was Harry, even though Harry thought it was his dad) And at this point, Snape does not know that Harry is destined to destroy Voldemort. He did not hear the end of the prophecy and Dumbledore had not confided such information to Snape as of the end of the third book.

Question: Since Dumbledore canceled exams, how did the seven-year students know if they passed for graduation or not? Did they still take exams?

Answer: This is not fully explained, but as the OWL and NEWT students have exams given by the ministry, it is possible that they have already completed their exams or that their exams will not be cancelled. It is also possible that the students' teachers will simply give them a course mark and that they will not have to take the exams.

Friends (1994)

Chosen answer: The chick and the duck died of old age sometime between season 6 and 7. We find out in season 10 the Friends told Joey they had been sent to a farm where nobody could visit, to save his feelings.

kristenlouise3

This always confused me as in S1 when Ross found out that his childhood dog died after believing that it was genuinely sent to live on a farm, Joey was one of the people looking at Ross during that realization.

Twilight (2008)

Question: This question is more for those who have read the book, but I've always wondered that when Edward was taking a personal time from school since he first saw Bella in the classroom, what did he do all that time? Because first he wanted really bad to get out of that class and transferred to something else, but when he came back, he was friendly and had sort of accepted the situation. I always thought he might have been talking to Carlisle about his exceptional powers (or lack of them) regarding to Bella. Could anyone specify?

sadica

Chosen answer: He goes to visit the Denali clan in Alaska. He also hunts before he returns to school.

Question: What sort of class is going on in the scene where Ron, Harry, and Hermione discuss dates (when Hermione reveals that someone already asked her to the dance)? Other teachers/staff are walking around, in addition to Snape, and the class appears to be larger than those in other scenes.

Answer: It appears to be a study hall or homework time.

Question: When Gandalf is telling Bilbo about the Istari, he first discusses Saruman the White and Radagast the Brown. Then he mentions the other two wizards, the _____, and says he can't remember their names. What is the word Gandalf uses to describe these two wizards? I've seen the movie twice now but can't catch it. It sounds like he says they're "bruisers", but that doesn't seem like a word anyone in Middle Earth would use.

Aerinah

Chosen answer: He says "the two Blues". Jackson did not have the rights to the Unfinished Tales where the wizards are named (Alatar and Pallando) so he could not mention them in the film.

Question: This question is a plot hole question pertaining mostly to the films and slightly to the books, and wondering whether or not what I think is a plot hole really is. At the end of this film Bella tells Jacob that she loves him. In the book this didn't happen. Then in Eclipse (both the film and book) Jacob spends the whole time trying to convince Bella that she loves him. In this film Bella also tells Jacob that although she loves him, she will still choose Edward over him, and in Eclipse (the film) she basically repeats that statement by saying that her feelings for Jacob don't change, that she loves Edward more and will marry him. I am aware there two different directors for New Moon and Eclipse so could that be the reason for my confusion?

Answer: The change in directors makes no difference as the plot is based off the book. Bella loves Jacob but she feels that she cannot survive without Edward, and therefore loves him more.

Juno (2007)

Question: One of the questions about this movie pertains to why Vanessa was shocked when Juno said she saw their adoption ad in The Pennysaver. My question is: is it possible that Mark submitted the ad to the Pennysaver thinking no one would see it so he could avoid becoming a father? Because obviously Vanessa had difficulty conceiving a child for whatever reason and at the end of the movie Mark (finally) expresses his disinterest and "not feeling ready".

Answer: Mark probably submitted it without telling Vanessa. They have been trying to adopt for a while but he didn't think that it would happen right away (some couples wait years to find a birth mother), hence his feeling unprepared.

General questions

It's been bugging me a while now. There was a movie I saw only a few years ago, that I can not remember the title to, or even what it was about. I just have memory of one particularly funny scene and it's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what movie it was. All I remember from the movie is this scene where a guy and his family come home. They did something to piss someone off in the Navy, so they found their car in their living room. Impossible to fit through the doors, the Navy men had disassembled it piece by piece and put it back together right in his living room as a way of getting back at him for something. I can not remember what, or who plays in it. Anybody know what movie this is?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: Sounds like Youth in Revolt (2009) starring Michael Cera.

General questions

I remember a TV movie from the 1980s (perhaps early 1990s) whereby a sister and brother (I think) come across a medallion. They somehow realize that the medallion belongs to a king (everybody seems to be puppets, like the Muppets but NOT the Muppets, except for the sister and brother). The movie involves them trying to bring the medallion to its rightful owner, however, there are bad guys who want the medallion themselves. I cannot remember much else besides the fact that the sister and brother (who fought a lot at the beginning of the movie), become closer and better siblings by working together in returning the medallion to its rightful owner.

Answer: Sounds like it could be The Argon Quest (1990) or Blizzard Island (a 1988 TV series).

General questions

I cannot remember much of this movie but I loved it as a kid. It might have been a 90s movie. I don't think it had any popular actors in it either. It's about a young girl who was kept in a shed by her dad for most of her life. I believe she was mute because of it. Some kids found the girl and sneaked her out with them a few times. The girl and her mother were abused. That is all I know. I hope someone can help. This has been bugging me for months. :) Thank you.

Answer: Sounds like it could be Wildflower, a 1991 made for TV movie.

General questions

I'm looking for this movie, and I can't remember much but it's been nagging at me for ages. I remember this boy, and he's in a hamster ball of sorts, I think he's sick or something. He ran away, was happy, and he got chased by an animal or something - I really can't remember anything else. (02:06:15)

Chosen answer: Sounds like it could be Bubble Boy (2001).

General questions

I am searching for a movie I saw a long time ago. I do not remember much about it other than there was a young girl and a man and I remember them dancing on top of a truck to Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark. I also remember a scene where this man kills a dog and wraps it in a flag (I think) and the younger girl sees it and runs away in a field.

Answer: Sounds like it could be Lawn Dogs (1997).

Question: After the scene in which the death eaters attack Harry and Ginny, everyone runs back to The Burrow which is being burnt down. My question is why does everyone look so sad? It's not like they're going to be homeless. They could have used the spell aguamenti to extinguish the flames, and any further damage could be fixed with the spell reparo. I've heard of fiendfyre in the Harry Potter series, but this just looked like normal fire to me.

Answer: According to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, you cannot create all things with magic, so some things would definitely be lost in a fire - magical or otherwise.

Question: Does the majority of this movie takes place in 2012, meaning that Mavis was born in 1894?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Submitting as a question since it actually may explain something rather than a mistake: In the scene where Prince Humperdink throws the machine to maximum, note Westley's left hand. Did anyone else notice he appears to be holding the tubes attached to his abdominal area? Seems like an odd thing to do (or for the the Count to not notice). Initially I thought it was a production ad lib to keep the tubes from flailing around too much (to prevent damage to either the prop or Cary - or keep it from accidentally getting snagged by the nearby machinery). However, it also seemed to open the possibility that because he is holding the tube, it might be lessening the effect of the machine and may have contributed to the "mostly dead" status. He's holding the tube throughout the scene (not just for the shot where he is writhing).

Answer: It is a natural reaction to grab onto things that are causing pain and try to remove them. The machine causes immense pain and so Westley is trying to remove the tubes, however futile it may be.

Ten Commandments (1956)

Question: Are Jethro and his daughters Arabs or Jews? I'm asking because a couple of things don't make sense to me: In Jethro's tent, there are several men (sheiks) who are dressed in the traditional Arab headgear. Also, his daughters shown him respect by gesturing with their hands.

Answer: Jethro is a Kenite shepherd and priest of Midian. Midian was likely in the area that is now known as Saudi Arabia.

kristenlouise3

Answer: He was a descendant of Ishmael, so that makes him an Arab.
