Continuity: A montage scene of newspaper headlines early on has March 12, 1939 as the date. Much later in the film, Jude Law asks Gwyneth Paltrow the date so he can calculate the position of a star. She responds "March 2" but there is absolutely nothing to indicate that nearly a year has passed.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow mistakes
Continuity: When Joseph and Polly enter the Ark, we see the door close behind them, the countdown coming to zero. The Mysterious Woman, at the time, is out cold, or at least a dozen meters behind them. Yet, she finds her way onboard the Ark somehow.
Continuity: When the robots invade New York City and are advancing on Polly in the street, the camera pans down to the robots' stomping feet. There is nothing there but open space for them to tromp on. The camera pans back to Polly taking a picture, then back to the robots' feet. Suddenly, a car has magically appeared in the path of the stomping robots and gets kicked towards her.

After the robots first attack New York City, a series of newspapers is shown. On the Japanese one, you can see Godzilla's outline.
When Joe is going to shoot the bomb on the robot's legs, you can see King Kong climbing on the Empire State building in the background.
Totenkopf (German for "death's head") is a military insignia featuring a skull above crossed bones and that the lower jaw bone is absent. Today the insignia is particularly associated with Nazi Germany's elite soldiers who served in the 3rd SS Panzer Division (Death's Head Division) in World War II, but it has its origins in cavalry of the Imperial Prussian army.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow easter eggs
On the special collector's edition, in the Special Features second menu (go to Special Features then go to MORE - its the menu with the gag reel and deleted scenes) then press 1 on your remote. The EXTRA written on the upper-left of the newspaper should light up and you will get a 2 minute clip entitled "Secret behind the scenes look at the animation department, by Steve Meyer". There's a surprise ending so go watch it.
The hidden clip entitled "Secret behind the scenes look at the animation department" can also be found on the 2-disc edition. On the second disc with the extras: highlight the choice 'gag reel' then press the right-arrow. The little circle between the menu blocks now glows red. Press enter-button to watch.
