Is it possible that any of the characters whose video games have been moved could still return to their games after evacuating once their games plugged in again, even in spite of which extension cords their games get replugged in? Answer: Theoretically, yes. as it is shown that the surge protectors serve as a sort of train station. So they could possibly make the transition from one to the other.
Question: When Ralph sees Vanellope's picture on the side of the cabinet for Sugar Rush, how come she is not wearing her princess gown?
Answer: There could well have been multiple outfits planned for Vanellope from the beginning. The gown could be just for making announcements between levels, while the tracksuit could be what Vanellope changes into when she actually joins the races.
Question: Ralph is only the bad guy of the video game during the hours when the arcade is open, just like the other villains. In fact, when he is not playing his role, he acts like a good guy which he prefers, though some other video characters, including the Nicelanders, fear him, knowing he is supposed to be a villain. Particularly, Gene mistreats Ralph since he doesn't approve of Ralph's behavior of wrecking the building. Why is Ralph still treated like an enemy by Gene and the Nicelanders despite the fact that being the bad guy is only his role? Even if the Nicelanders know their game will be unplugged without Ralph being present?
Answer: Because it's easier for them to simply tell themselves that that's what he is. Especially since he can still accidentally destroy an entire apartment without intending to. And they simply wouldn't imagine that Ralph would leave, because he'd end up just as homeless as them if he did.
Question: How did Turbo turn himself into King Kandy? Also, why did he choose Sugar Rush as his game to take over compared to any other game in the arcade?
Answer: Turbo is shown to be able to manipulate a game's bits and codes, as seen when he enters through the safe to retrieve Ralph's medal; he probably tweaked his image while disconnecting Vanellope and locking away the citizens' memories. He most likely picked Sugar Rush because he was already a racer, and was determined to become the best in the arcade, without facing any possible competition from other games or racing characters. His goal to completely take over was incited when he became fused with the virus cy-bug.
Question: When King Kandy returns Ralph his medal, King Kandy also convinces him that if Vanellope wins the race, she will become a popular player for the children that play in the arcade. Yet, with her glitching making the game seem like it is malfunctioning, the game will be unplugged while Vanellope stays in the game and dies. He even mentions that he is trying to protect her. Ralph knew that King Kandy and his minions where chasing him and Vanellope because she was like a wanted criminal as a glitch. Why does Ralph believe him anyway?
Answer: Ralph knew Vanellope was a glitch. His choice was either let Vanellope win the race but let the players think she was malfunctioning and have the game unplugged or stop her from racing and the game wouldn't be unplugged. Ralph wasn't going to take the risk of the game getting unplugged and have Vanellope die so Ralph had no choice but to believe King Candy so Vanellope would stay safe no matter what.
Question: Where exactly does Felix and Calhoun's wedding take place?
Answer: It takes place in Hero's Duty. We know that from the earlier flashback where Calhoun and her previous fiance we going to get married and the fiance was killed by a cy-bug. Since the cy-bugs were only ever in Hero's Duty, then it would have to have been in Hero's Duty.
Question: If Vanellope's true rank is princess, how come she doesn't know or remember?
Answer: When King Candy went to delete Vanellope's code making her a glitch, he also locked all of the stuff the racers and citizens knew about Vanellope in a chest. Since Vanellope was also one of the racers, she would have forgotten everything about herself.
Question: Is Tapper's a real game?
Answer: Yes. Tapper, or in later versions Root Beer Tapper, was an arcade cabinet released in 1983.
Question: What doesn't Vanellope like about being princess? Why would she rather be president instead? (01:41:00)
Answer: She's been on her own since King Candy took over. She probably doesn't like the idea of a monarchy anymore.
Question: In order for the game to end, the player has to lose his or her last life. As such, the closing screen shouldn't end with Ralph being thrown off the roof, but rather with Fix-it Felix doing the lie down holding a lily, with Ralph standing at the top of the ruined building in triumph. So why does the end of a successful day show the aftermath of Ralph being thrown off the roof of the building?
Question: How would Markowski have known the details of a medal that only the First-Person Shooter would ever be able to obtain? As Calhoun says, their only job is to help the FPS reach the top, so they can get a medal. The NPCs never get it.
Answer: As NPCs in the game, they have knowledge of the game itself, like how NPCs in some games give out quests even though they don't go on the quest itself.
Question: Though Vanellope did say to Ralph that glitches can't leave their game, what is the explanation behind it? Why can't glitches ever leave their game? She never explained it.
Answer: It is never explained, but the most likely answer is that glitches aren't written into the game intentionally, and only characters intentionally written can be transferred in and out of games.
Question: Did Ralph know Turbo when the "Turbo Time" game was in the arcade? Did Turbo know Ralph at that time?
Answer: While they never show that Ralph and turbo actually knew one another there are some clues in the movie to at least allude to the fact that they knew of each other. Ralph knows what going turbo means when asked at the beginning of the movie in the bad guy anon group and turbo (as king candy) has a line when he first sees Ralph that goes, "Milk my duds! You're Wreck-it-Ralph" meaning he knew him at least by name.
Question: Why don't characters regenerate if they die outside their own game, like Turbo did?
Answer: Because the characters are programmed to regenerate when they die, but outside their game, they are away from their code, or copy of themselves so they can't come back.
Question: Why doesn't King Candy just not have the race? He doesn't want Vanillope to race/win, so just cancel the race. Problem solved.
Answer: The film implies many times that video game characters have a strong desire to fill out their designed roles, sometimes at their own expense. Ralph constantly has to fight the urge to wreck things, Felix has a strong desire to fix things, Calhoun is obsessed with stopping the Cy-bugs, and the racers in Sugar Rush live to race. Vanellope not being allowed to race causes her a great deal of depression and self doubt. Turbo himself was so obsessed with racing that he couldn't cope with the idea of competing racing games and began to invade them when his game was unplugged. In short, King Candy holds the race because he and the Sugar Rush characters need to race.
Answer: The race has to happen. When Ralph left the Fix-It Felix game, this led Mr. Litwak to believe the game was broken and placed an "Out Of Order" sign on the cabinet which would cause the game to be unplugged. If King Candy cancelled the race, when the kids try to play Sugar Rush and saw no racers, Mr. Litwak would assume the game was broken too and would also have to unplug it. The only way to make sure this doesn't happen is to let the race occur.
Question: Since Ralph made the bonus level for all the characters who got their games shut down and if the characters die outside of their game they are dead forever, wouldn't the characters who got their game shut down be dead forever if they died in the bonus level?
Answer: Possibly. But it's also possible that in putting them in the bonus level, it became their game too.
Question: Why are there some characters (Bowser, Sonic, etc.) able to be in the Game Central Station when they're solely console-based characters, and none of them have appeared in arcade form? I know the sequel is going to touch base on console games and tablet games coming together with arcade characters.
Answer: Sonic has appeared in arcade games such as the arcade version of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic Sega All Stars Racing. Bowser has appeared in Versus Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart Arcade GP, as well as an arcade version of Super Mario 3. Though both games for Bowser are rarely seen in the US it's not unreasonable to think Litwak would have these games at his arcade.
Question: When Ralph returns to his game from Sugar Rush after betraying Vanellope, he obviously wears his medal. Did he or did he not get back into his game with the medal without being stopped by the Surge Protector?
Answer: It is not shown in the film, so it is unknown.
Answer: For the same reason as noted in a correction: "Cabinet art (and box art for home versions) often does not match what actually appears in the game. For example, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989) for NES' box art showed an image from the comic book, with all four turtles wearing red masks, but the game itself was based on the cartoon series where each turtle had a different colored mask."
