Iron Man 2

Factual error: The fake passport that Ivan is given along with the tickets to Monaco has several mistakes that show it to be fake to someone with basic ID training. The passport number, date of birth and expiry date do not match the Machine Readable Zone at the bottom of the passport. Also, one of the chevrons is reversed, and there are too few of them.

Deliberate mistake: The whole Monaco race sequence is totally (but deliberately) ludicrous. First no driver would be allowed without a fireproof mask and rest of required security measures, as Stark does. Second, the real-life security controls are very strict: When an accident occurs a safety car shows up, flags and audio advices signal the racing cars for them to lower their speed and avoid accidents. Nothing to do with the wild, uncontrolled race depicted here.

Deliberate mistake: Whiplash's Orange jumpsuit defies physics. The scene shows Whiplash powering up his harness at the race track, which burns off the top section of the jumpsuit, however the jumpsuit then mysteriously and impossibly appears tucked under the harness's belt. If the belt was in the inside of the jumpsuit, the jumpsuit would just fall to the ground and leave Whiplash basically naked, and not be tucked under the belt. If the Harness belt was placed on the outside of the jumpsuit, then the remains of the jumpsuit would have draped over the belt covering it up. There is no way the jumpsuit can end up tucked under the belt, but its done so Mr. Rourke and the movie can remain PG.

Overcracker

Continuity mistake: Natalie knocks Hogan down and does a lock on him choking him with her legs. From one angle she is leaning her body and right arm over him, but a frame later she has her body and right arm resting behind his arm in a totally different position.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Fury and Stark are talking in the destroyed house, the butler is seen relaxing in the background with both arms resting by his lap. A frame later, from a different angle, the butler has his arms raised and he's watching through a pair of binoculars.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: The executive toy on Pepper's desk is moving around throughout their conversation, but the positions don't always match as the camera angle switches - keep an eye on the longer bit of metal, which is sometimes pointing upwards then is suddenly upside down in a different shot.

Jon Sandys

Continuity mistake: When Ivan's father dies, his neck in covered in some sort of scarf that hides it completely. When the angle changes, the neck is perfectly visible.

Other mistake: When Tony drives the city model home in his convertible, the wind would have blown away a lot of dust. When he sets it up at home, he blows a thick layer of dust off it.

Suggested correction: The wind would have blown dust off the exposed sections, but it was stacked. There would still be dust on other parts of the model.

I just believe the wind would easily be blowing strongly throughout the entire thing. It's not aerodynamic nor wrapped in any way, plenty of space between the pieces. I highly doubt dust should be present on that.

Continuity mistake: When Whiplash and Hammer are in the hanger, the butler comes in and removes the same thin wine glass twice. Other glasses disappear and reappear and move position between camera angles. Also one glass fills instantly between shots with water when no-one was nearby to fill it.

Continuity mistake: When Stark leaves the box of strawberries on Pepper's table, its position keeps changing between shots.

Sacha

Revealing mistake: There are obvious differences in the appearance of the "Ironman" and "War Machine" suits throughout the movie, as pertains to them showing a digitally-rendered suit vs an actual physical suit that the actor/stuntmen wear. Whenever a real suit is shown on an actor, it is quite bulky, most noticeably around the abdomen/stomach areas, and the size of the head-piece.The digital versions are much slimmer in the abdomen areas and the headpieces are much smaller and more compact.

Continuity mistake: A waiter is pouring wine in Ivan's glass but in the next angle, a tenth of a second later, the man is gone.

Sacha

Factual error: During the translated Russian TV broadcast, we see Stark's last name written in Western script, not Cyrillic. It should be "CTAPK" not "Stark."

Continuity mistake: When Stark presents the Expo he bows to the public. A frame later his head is up, without him having done any movement to raise it.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Ivan shows up on the racetrack watch the Johnnie Walker banner on the left and you'll notice that Ivan is sometimes side by side to it, others the ad is gone, others it's way behind. This keeps changing all the time.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: When Ivan is being served wine both glasses are close to each other. A frame later they're several centimeters apart.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: Ivan's scar changes drastically from the beginning of the movie. When his father dies and he is building his whiplash suit during the opening credits his facial scar lays on the surface of the skin trailing down his face from the outer corner of his left eye. Throughout the rest of the film it is a smaller, deeper scar about a quarter inch to the right of the original scar.

BocaDavie

Continuity mistake: When Stark is at the diner with Fury, Tony's glasses by the edge of the table swap from laying horizontal to slightly skewed between angles.

Sacha

Continuity mistake: After Tony puts the shield under the tube and takes the level off, there's nothing on the ring around the tube. But in the next shot facing Tony, there's an object that looks like ball bearing sitting on it.

Bishop73

Continuity mistake: When Tony is at the party and shooting things, he shoots the watermelon from his chest RT. We see the watermelon explode and the beam dissipate. The next shot is the watermelon raining down. Then the next shot is of Tony and the beam still coming out of his chest, but he never fired twice.

Nick Fury: Sir! I'm going to have to ask you to exit the donut!

Trivia: During the film's climax, a young boy in an Iron Man mask is shown standing up to one of the Hammer drones with Iron Man swooping in and destroying the drone and giving the kid the credit. Following Spider-Man's inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a fan theory suggested the young boy was Peter Parker, which Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Spider-Man actor Tom Holland would later retroactively confirm.

Question: Can someone please tell me why Stark brought strawberries when he visits Pepper in her office? He knows that she is allergic to them and we know that he likes/loves her, but it was a spiteful and mean thing to do. Not to mention insensitive. If he did that just to get the model, couldn't he had done it differently? The whole idea just doesn't make sense to me.

Answer: He wanted to do something nice for her, but since he is a pretty self-absorbed, shallow multi-billionaire, he forgot about her allergy. He remembered that there was SOMETHING about her and strawberries, but misremembered and thought it meant she really liked them. He makes a simple human mistake, not out of meanness or spite, but because he honestly does not remember.

Twotall

Answer: I've only watched this movie once but I think he got the strawberries from the man on the side of the road, and he just didn't want them. The man did just place them on the seat of Tony's car.

He stopped on the side of the road to get the strawberries. The man didn't throw them into his car as he drove by.
