The Devil

Continuity mistake: In the last scene of the shoot-out, watch as the blood pattern changes on Baby's left cheek and lip area.

Continuity mistake: When Sheriff Wydell hammers the nail through Otis's hand, at first the nail has gone through nearly all the way, but in the second shot it is sticking half way out.

Factual error: Considering it is 'supposed' to have taken place in the late 70s, why were the characters popping the caps off of their beer bottles? Pop-off caps weren't first introduced until the early 80s.

Continuity mistake: When Mother Firefly is showing Sheriff Wydell the next book from the pile, before she takes it the book on the table is closed, but when she takes the next one off the pile it is open.

The Devil

Continuity mistake: When Otis is driving away with Sheri and Captain Spaulding, at the end, there is no rear view mirror, yet when they are driving during the day it is there.

The Devil

Continuity mistake: When Otis has taken Roy and Adam out to the desert, when they leave the both van doors are open, but in one shot one of the doors is shut.

Deliberate mistake: Otis was portrayed as an albino in "House of 1000 Corpses" but in this film he has normal skin pigment.

The Devil

Continuity mistake: When Otis and Sheri are driving to the motel, on the dashboard there is a closed box of cigarettes, yet in the next shot they are open.

Visible crew/equipment: When Sheriff Wydell is trying to kill Sheri, you can see the cameraman's shadow on his back.

The Devil

Continuity mistake: When Candy is talking to her boss, he puts the money in the box and it changes position, then even disappears in one shot.

The Devil

Continuity mistake: When Otis beats up Roy, his hat moves into a number of different positions between all the shots.

Trivia

Rob Zombie is a huge horror and slasher movie buff and he makes this well known in Devil's Rejects for there are many scenes that are tributes to slasher films. The Sheriff chasing Baby Doll through the cattle farm is from 2003's remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre as is Otis wearing the husband's face as a mask. Otis attacking the girl in the shower is a nod towards Psycho. The sheriff using an axe is from the Shining (watch how he kills Charlie. It is the exact same way Jack Nicholson kills the cook in Shining). The tale of the traveling killers is a hint towards Natural Born Killers and the idea of a the cop extracting revenge on those who killed his family member is from The Last House on the Left where a girl's parents take revenge on a group of rapists and killers.
