Factual error: In the scene of reaching Machu Pichu, the asthmatic Che Guevara is practically running up (6.000 meters high), and his friend, who doesn't suffer from any respiratory illness, is gasping for air. In other scenes, the asthma plays an important role in the film.

Ernesto and Alberto leave the leper colony and head to Venezuela. Ernesto goes back to Argentina and Alberto stays in Venezuela because of his new job. Before the end credits, some text on screen explains that Alberto and Ernesto see each other again 8 years later. When Ernesto joins Castro's revolution, he invites Alberto to Cuba and he (Alberto) starts a medical research center there. Ernesto is killed in Bolivia in 1967. Alberto currently lives in Cuba with his family.
