The Punisher (2004) - 20 corrections

starring John Travolta, Rebecca Romijn, Thomas Jane

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click "make changes" when viewing mistakes, and click "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Entry When Howard Saint's other son is on the dock beating up Frank, there is one point when he kicks Frank off the dock and onto another lower part of the dock. When he kicks him, it is clear that the wood has been pre-cut so it's very easy to break, therefore very easy to kick Frank through it. Use slow motion. [It's not a valid mistake if you have to use slow motion to spot it.]
Entry At the end, Castle is standing outside his parked car at sunset on a traffic-less bridge. That is on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Clearwater, Florida where there is never a time of day, especially rush-hour, that a person could park their car and get out. [Look at the position of the sun behind Frank. No way was that shot taken during rush hour, more like between 5 and 6 am. As such, traffic could have been light enough to allow for that shot. The bridge is 29k feet long which roughly equal 19 miles. More than enough time for a 25 second spot to be shot without cars passing.]
Entry When Howard Saint is in the limo after burying his son, he gives instructions to his best friend to kill Jack. His hair is wet and put back with gel. In the next shot, it is dry and fallen and in the next shot it is wet and back again. [Howard Saint's hair never changes during any of these shots, it is always brushed and fixed back with gel.]
Entry In the car chase scene with Frank and Harry Heck, Frank hits an oncoming car and flips his own vehicle. In the shot where Frank's car is in the air and the rear of the car that he hit is visible, the ramp used to make the car flip can be seen by the other car. [I have viewed this scene many times with slow motion and frame by frame and I cannot see any kind of ramp near or at the side of the car making the car flip over.]
Entry Right after the pier explodes and Frank is blown off of the dock into the water, Saint's men speed away down the pier in the red truck, all of the writing on the buildings is backwards. [No its not, in the previous scene where Saint's men crash the 4x4, they crash into the hut called Scuba, the shot you see when there driving away is from behind the truck with the scuba hut still on the left but right from the shot from the front of the truck.]
Entry When Dave knocks on Frank's door to trick him into coming to dinner, Frank loads his pistol before answering. He put the magazine in and chambers the first round, but when he manipulates the action, the ejection port doesn't open. [You actually can see the chamber open, it is dark in the room so you can hardly see it, but it opens.]
Entry When Howard Saint is stabbing Leonard Glass, the knife has no blood on it, even after he has stabbed him several times. [I was (unfortunatly) witness to a stabbing on a reality TV show, and the knife was perfectly clean when pulled out. The tight skin in the wound sometimes pulls blood off like a sponge.]
Entry In the scene where Saint shoots one of his henchmen for not taking care of his son, when Saint throws his gun on the body, the henchman jerks, something that a living, rather than a dead person would do upon such an impact. [Your nerves function for a short time after you die, although the man was dead, the gun being thrown on him could have made his body jerk from the impact.]
Entry After running down Frank's wife and son, the villains all calmly stand around as Frank picks up the shotgun, works the slide and pulls the trigger only to find that the shotgun was empty. Since there was no way they could have known the gun was empty, why would they just stand still as Frank pulled the trigger? [Tthe bad guys DID know the gun was empty. Frank fires two shots at the pick-up. Some shotguns can only be loaded with two shells at a time, limiting them to two consecutive shots before needing to be reloaded again. The Saint Gang recognized the type of gun and knew that two shots had been fired, meaning that they had nothing to fear. Frank was too shaken up by the deaths of his family to remember that his gun was empty.]
Entry In the scene where Micky and Howard are discussing Livia's parking ticket, Micky mentioned that date the ticket was issued was September 5th, a Thursday. The movie takes place in 2004 where September 5th was a Sunday. [The film actually takes place in 2003, look at the scene with the Castle's gravestones.]
Entry When Howard Saint is starting to get suspicious of his wife and Quentin, he asks for last month's phone bill, but it only happened last Thursday, Sept. 5th. That would make it Thursday Sept. 12th, so I don't think last month's phone bill would really help. [He asked for last month's bill because he was checking to see if this has been going on for longer than a week.]
Entry When the Punisher's wife is driving madly away from the Saints with her kid, their Jimmy flips over and rolls, and the gas tank has been removed. For safety reasons I assume. [In the Making-Of section of the DVD, it shows that this was a real stunt driven by a genuine stuntwoman. If the gas tank had been removed, the vehicle would not have been able to be driven.]
Entry Near the end, when the Punisher sets down his dog tags on the table, they make a metal clinking sound. However, you can see that the dog tags are framed in black. That's because they have a rubber dog tag silencer on them, specifically used so that they won't make that clinking noise. [It's not the dog tags hitting the table, it is the beaded chain hitting the exposed metal of the dog tag.]
Entry On the docks after Castle's family is killed, Frank shoots a hole in the windshield of the truck that the thugs are riding. In the next shot, a smiley face made of bullet holes can be seen on the windshield. [The "smiley face" is continuous from one shot to the next, and looks exactly the same from initial creation to our last sight of it. It might be an inside joke, but we can't say it's a mistake.]
Entry Howard Saint's men could find out that Otto Creed was really Frank Castle, and all this other biographical information on him in 24 hours, and his exact location in Puerto Rico, but it took days to find out where his apartment is. [Frank is no longer with the FBI. He wasn't in contact with anyone so it's understandable that it would take longer to find a man that is off the radar.]
Entry How did Frank get his Black Pontiac back? After his car rolled and he killed Harry Heck, we see him jump into Harry's car and drive off. A dead body and an upside down car in the middle of the street would have been quickly discovered and the damaged car would have been impounded. But at the end, we see Frank drive off in the pontiac. [It isn't the GTO...it was Harry Heck's car. If you look closely when he gets in you can see the green hood.]
Entry In the scene where Castle gets out of his hideout elevator after being stabbed on his left chest by the Russian, the next shot when he's about to kill one of Saint's guys his chest is perfectly fine with no cuts and blood. [After the fight with the Russian, Frank's shoulder is stitched up by Joan. They hide in the elevator while Saint's men interrogate the 2 other guys. When they leave and Frank rises from the elevator, it has been a few hours, and the stitch should have stopped the bleeding.]
Entry In the opening scene at the docks we see Frank standing on a large container. The camera shows the container lowered all the way to the ground it then cuts away then cuts backs to show the container being lowered all the way down a second time. [When Frank lowers the container, he doesn't originally lower it all the way.....he pauses to say something, and then continues to lower it.]
Entry In the sequence where Frank's family is run over on the dock, the truck drives over them and continues on. Frank shows up soon after and looks down the dock, and there is no truck in sight. Soon the truck magically appears, having turned around on a dock barely large enough for it as is. The mobsters then "kill" Frank and leave him for dead. Only when they leave him, they get back in the truck, which has since magically turned around again, and speed off down the dock toward the ocean end of the pier, not the end connected to the island. [If you look at the dock from the wide shot at the beach, you can see there is a large area at the end where there would be enough room for a truck to turn around. The truck was behind the 'shacks' that were on the dock. Also when the truck speeds off after 'killing' Frank, it does go towards the beach, note that the beach is in the back, not a wide view of the ocean.]
Entry In the beginning of the movie when Saint's men are shooting the Castle family, there is a scene where one of the family members tries to ride off on a motorcycle. One of Saint's men shoots him in the back and he falls off next to the bike. Later on Frank runs over to the bike and takes off on it, but the body of the other family member is gone. [When the biker falls off the bike, he falls off the right side of the bike. The bike then proceeds to swerve left. The shot where Frank gets on the bike is tight enough so that the distance is enough that the body might not be seen.]
