Ned Schneebly: I'm not paying your share of the rent. I don't know...maybe you should sell one of your guitars or something.

Dewey Finn: What? Would you tell Picasso to sell his guitars?

Trivia

Gibson, one of the most expensive guitar brands in the world, donated ten standard SGs (the red guitars that are seen throughout the film, and the one Dewey is playing on the poster) to the film. Jack Black (Dewey) now owns six of them, because he "got there first." See more...

Entry What's the song playing when Dewey escorts the band to the auditions? ["The Wait" by Metallica.]
Entry Can someone please tell me what the entire board said when Jack Black was describing all the different types of rock, while song is playing? [I believe it's "My Brain is Hanging Upside Down" by The Ramones.]
Entry What's the song playing when Dewey and the band are going to the battle of the bands? It's in the bit when Mullins says that all the children are missing. [Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.]
Entry I have not seen this film but have heard that at one point Jack Black sings the Bruce Dickinson song 'Tears Of The Dragon'. Is this true? There is nothing on the IMDb. [The song isn't on the soundtrack, and I can't find anywhere in the film where Jack sings lyrics that even sound like Tears. I don't think it's true.]
Entry What piece of music did Dewey first teach Lawrence on the keyboard? Right band, wrong song. It's actually "Touch Me" by The Doors.
Entry Does anybody know what state this movie takes place in? [The director states in the commentary that supposedly "this is a nice private school in Long Island."]
Entry What is the song that is starting to play when Dewey Finn (Black) is assigning all the kids positions? [The song playing is "Back in Black" by AC/DC.]
Entry In the scene where Dewey is demonstrating the guitar to Zack, what is the first bit of music he plays, just before "Smoke on the Water"? [He's playing "Ironman" by Black Sabbath.]
Entry I know this is a weird question but does anyone know how to play sticks? It is said on the DVD that the kids taught it to Jack Black and that it is a finger game but that is all we are told. [Sticks is a game where 2 players hold up both hands, and point one finger out of both hands. One player starts, and hits the opposing player's finger. The hand that the one player just hit then has two fingers. The 2nd player then does the same, either using the hand with 2 fingers, or just one. Once both hands get all five fingers up, they lose. But if one hand has 2 or a nother even-number amount of fingers up, they can split the 2 or 4 up, making 1 or 2 fingers on each hand.]
