Other mistake: When Glass is walking around the sub before leaving Scotland we see 2 men in their bunks. Just as the camera pans in to look at them, a third man in the corridor can be seen to stand aside and let the camera pass before continuing. Captain Glass is not near this sailor at the time. Factual error: When the order is given to activate the US Navy 6th Fleet, the warships are shown with their crews standing on deck in their dress white uniforms, which is only done when pulling in or out for a deployment, or ceremonial port call (fleet week). (01:33:00)

Answer: He didn't. He was hoping that the Russian crew would be loyal to the president and their former captain who were aboard the USS Arkansas when the Russian minister fired on the submarine.
