During the scene where the Japanese are being rounded up and taken to the Internment Camp, the camera is panning over the crowds of people walking down the street. Half way through this scene, there is a woman and a little girl, who seems to be carrying a stuffed Elmo! I rewound the tape several times to get a better look, but it looks a LOT like a furry red stuffed animal with white googly eyes! Has anyone else noticed this? See more...

Hatsue is born and raised in the U.S, yet she speaks with a noticeable Japanese accent. If you learn a language before 7 (as Hatsue surely would have done, starting school at 6 or 7 for first grade) it is very unlikely you will have an accent, even if you speak other languages as well. [My 8 yr old cousin speaks with a broad Welsh accent despite being born and raised in Canada and attending a French speaking school. Both her parents are Welsh and she has picked up the accent from them.]
