Trivia: The filmmakers wanted to honor the fact that the villains are animatronic robots and decided to use practical effects instead of CGI. The Jim Henson Creature Shop actually built fully-functional animatronic puppets for each character, in addition to suits that could be worn by actors for movements that were too complex for the animatronics to do.
Trivia: A teacher at a Miami charter school showed this film to his 4th-grade class. He allowed them to select the film they wanted to watch, and they picked this, with nobody realising it was a horror film. Apparently, the movie played for over 20 minutes before the teacher shut it off, despite earlier protests from his students about its content.
Trivia: This film features appearances from WWE alumni John Cena and Dwayne Johnson. There used to be real-life acrimony between the two, as Cena was critical of Johnson for leaving the WWE to pursue a film career, alleging he abandoned his fans and the business he claimed to love. Cena would later apologize for this disposition after pursuing a film career of his own, acknowledging that he didn't make the effort to view things from Johnson's perspective.

Trivia: When the film was released, a big deal was made about the fact there's a 10+ year age gap between stars Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman, with many expressing that they felt it was inappropriate that Lawrence was older. However, the cast and crew pointed out this as being immensely hypocritical, as Bradley Cooper is 15 years older than Lawrence and played her love-interest in "Silver Linings Playbook," which nobody complained about despite her only being only 22 at the time.
