Continuity mistake: On page 159, we are introduced to 'Ensign William Lovell', but later on, on page 188, Captain Keyes calls him 'Ensign Michael Lovell'.
Continuity mistake: In chapter 21 (page 97 in my British Corgi edition) Vittoria says she and her father collected five thousand nanograms of antimatter. However, in chapter 22 (page 101) when Vittoria is about to remove the trap, Kohler says "Five hundred nanograms!", not five thousand. As there is such a huge amount of power in a tiny amount of antimatter, there would be an enormous difference between 500 and 5000 nanograms and Kohler, as an expert scientist, would know this and not make that mistake.
Continuity mistake: Ian Malcolm dies in Jurassic Park. In the epilogue it says that the Costa Rican Government would not "permit the burial of John Hammond or Ian Malcolm", yet he's somehow back to life for this book, presumably because the character in the movie was popular.
Continuity mistake: In Chapter 4, Garraty thinks about Jan and her long, dark hair. Later, in Chapter 6, he once again thinks of her, this time with her long, blonde hair.
Continuity mistake: In chapter 11 when Brutus goes out to take a morning bath and he hears the soldiers cursing over the cold water, the text says Julius rather than Brutus. An error, considering Julius is in a different part of Greece.
Continuity mistake: In Chapter 4 page 24, it says Conner's last name is Griffith, with a TH, but in the last page, page 212, the Pop Quiz says his name is Conner Griffin, with an N.
Continuity mistake: In "the Valley of Horses" Jondalar tells Ayla that the man he beat up had had Zolena as his donii woman the previous year and was still in love with her. In this book he says that the other man wanted Zolena as his donii woman the same year she became Jondalar's, and that the reason for his jealousy was that she picked someone else.
Continuity mistake: When Danny is having the car conversation with Mr Halloran, Danny mentions the time in a store where he went to a person who was thinking about stealing a radio from the store and told him not to. A few pages later when Danny is alone and thinking about his talk with Halloran, Stephen King says that Danny convinced the kid not to steal a television instead of a radio.
Continuity mistake: In Chapter 120, the main characters discover what they realize is an 8-by-8 Caesar box code. The first two times we see the letters of this code, the fourth sequence of four letters reads MFHA. The first letter, M, is a typo - it should actually be P. When the letters are grouped in an 8-by-8 grid in Chapter 121, this sequence has now changed to the correct PFHA. The correct letter P gives you the word "responsible"; the incorrect letter M would yield "resmonsible".
Continuity mistake: Diana Foxton's hair goes from blonde to brunette and back again over a couple of pages.
Continuity mistake: In the first Bridget Jones book, quite early on Bridget attends a tea party for her godson Harry's birthday (Magda's son). However, in The Edge of Reason Magda's children change completely. During the second chapter Magda goes out with the girls who mistakenly think she is still pregnant, Magda states 'I had her five weeks ago' meaning she had a baby girl in late December. But later on in chapter 8 when Bridget looks after Magda's children for the day, the children are referred to as Constance (who is nearly 3) Harry (who is nearly 1 - despite having had a birthday in the first book) and the baby who is referred to as a 'him'. Also, if the baby had been born late December, it would have meant she either had a very short pregnancy or somehow gave birth to Harry in the summer whilst pregnant with the baby due in December.
Continuity mistake: In the story 'The Stickman' the author changes two character's names. 'Jennifer' changes to 'Jessica' halfway throughout the story, and the other female character 'Windy-Sue' changes to 'Wendy-Sue'.
Continuity mistake: The main character's middle name changes from Paige to Cornelia within a few pages.
Continuity mistake: In book I when Michael leaves to see his father at the hospital, the narrative text states that Kay Adams would not see him again until three years had passed. When they are reunited in book VII it is often stated that they've been apart for two years, not three.
Continuity mistake: This is from the American hardcover copy, near the end of the book. On page 283, Opal says "Whoever is passing wind, please stop it, or I will devise a fitting punishment." Then on page 297 (it is the same time, but from Mulch's point of view instead of Opal's) Opal says "NOW, whoever is passing wind, please stop it, or I will devise a fitting punishment." Since it is the same time on both pages, she should say exactly the same thing.
Continuity mistake: Arrington has a son. At the end of an earlier book, Swimming to Catalina, Arrington had a daughter.
Continuity mistake: In Chapter 18, when Arnie and Dennis are about to finish their lunch, it says that the bell rung, signifying that there were five minutes till period five started, but a few pages later Dennis talks about the next period as being period six, rather than five.
Continuity mistake: Donna eyes change colour. "a pretty, dark haired woman of twenty nine, tall, gray-eyed" to "His terrible, thoughtless eyes never left Donna Trenton's wide blue ones."
Continuity mistake: After killing two of the bikers in the mine, and knocking the third unconscious, Dirk Pitt hands one of their guns, a P-10 automatic, to Dr Tom Ambrose. However, after Ambrose has been found out to be an imposter and has committed suicide, Dr. Pat O'Connell comments to Pitt "You knew, that's why you refused to give him a gun".
Continuity mistake: In Chapter 21, in the assembly of the minors, the text reads "while Milla and Adras transversed the terraces of the Assembly." At the moment, Adras is with Tal is in Aenier. It should read Odris.
