The Thanksgiving Story - S2-E10

Other mistake: During John-Boy's entrance exam at Boatwright University, when he's given the pamphlet and history test questions, note three of the questions include the contraction "it's" which is incorrect within those given questions. Each question should have used "its" without an apostrophe. Additionally, the sign on the University's wall reads "keep your eyes on you own paper" instead of "your own paper." (01:00:35)

The Substitute - S2-E11

Factual error: After Ethel Richardson unwittingly reveals to Miss Pollard that there's a special meeting of the school board, when it cuts to John's truck returning home from the meeting, at the start of this shot a modern black car is visible at the top, right corner of the screen. (00:34:35)

The Bequest - S2-E12

Continuity mistake: While Reverend Fordwick is speaking to the congregation at Sunday's service, in all three of Esther's closeups we see the girl who is wearing a blue dress and brown hat sitting behind Esther, but in other shots that girl is seated two rows in front of Esther and it's Jason and Ben who are seated behind their grandmother. The Car - S2-E24

Continuity mistake: When John-Boy finishes the roof repair he carries the ladder and places it beside the tree, then he notices the unlocked padlock on the garage door. In the closeup, the open lock is inserted through the latch facing the right, but in the wideshot the lock is inserted through the latch the opposite way. (00:25:25)

The Car - S2-E24

Visible crew/equipment: When John-Boy tells Mr. Rudge that he'd like to know all about his deceased son, during this touching scene there are closeups as Mr. Rudge's hand strokes the vehicle that belonged to his son, and we can see the reflection of the boom pole and mic, at least two crew members, filming equipment, and another vehicle on the polished chrome surface. Suggested correction: At the end it's not "suddenly beige." Mid-episode Mary Ellen mentions a family project to, "Design you a new-looking car" and Erin adds, "We can paint it." Soon John-Boy says, "I'd like to paint it a nice dignified shade of tan." In the penultimate scene John-Boy drives Hyder and Martha Rudge back home. Time passes offscreen. It cuts to the final scene with Mary Ellen and Erin placing their new cut/sewn seat covers in the newly painted tan car, and nobody is "polishing it for their first ride."

Olivia: Now I've got two sons working nights in a saloon.

The Journey - S2-E1

Trivia: While Maggie MacKenzie and John-Boy are at the Mermaid Restaurant, when they both dance together Maggie envisions her long deceased husband, Michael MacKenzie, dancing with her instead of John-Boy. It is Earl Hamner Jr. who portrays Michael MacKenzie in this uncredited onscreen cameo during the scene (note teeth and facial features are identical).
