House, M.D.

All In - S2-E17

Continuity mistake: Ian (the patient) moves his hand while he is in cardiac arrest, then almost immediately, Chase checks Ian's pulse and the sleeve of his shirt changes position. (00:31:10)

Wilson's Heart (2) - S4-E16

Continuity mistake: Throughout both parts of season 4's finale ("House's Head" and "Wilson's Heart"), Amber is always shown getting hit from the back and sitting facing House, so her seat's back is to the windows. Yet the last time we see the accident, that is, right after she took the flu pills, she is definitely sitting neatly sideways to the window (i.e. the seat is perpendicular to it) and getting hit from the right side. It most likely was done for artistic reasons, as the back shot, shown multiple times, makes for a very neat effect, with her blonde hair flowing around her like sunrays.

Sereenie

One Day, One Room - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: In the scene where House is in Wilson's Office and House needs advice about what to tell the rape victim, when the shots change between lines, the direction of the cane's handle changes with the shots.

Lucky Thirteen - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, when 13's date falls off the bed, she knocks the bedside lamp onto the floor. As 13 runs to the bedroom, the lamp is laid on its side on the bedside cabinet. As 13 bends down to attend to her date, the lamp is back on the floor. (00:01:05)

Mirror, Mirror - S4-E5

Plot hole: Since the doctors do not know the identity of the patient, Cole and Thirteen are given the car keys they found on the man and instructed to go to the area where he was found and try it in every car door. When House calls them, Thirteen says, "His car was towed and the tow gate's locked." House tells them to break in to the car impound. Given the only way for them to identify the car was using the keys, if the car's been towed away then it wasn't there for them to try the key in the first place.

Carrot or Stick - S7-E10

Character mistake: The girl who admits to changing Chase's profile says that what she is doing is negative reinforcement when it is actually positive punishment. Negative reinforcement involves taking something away (eg a noise) to encourage the behaviour whereas positive punishment involves adding something (the pictures) to discourage future behaviour.

Dying Changes Everything - S5-E1

Continuity mistake: Right at the end, when House is apologizing to Wilson, watch the bright spot on the TV frame on the wall behind House. In the long shots, the spot is right at the top left corner of the TV. In the close-up shots, the spot is closer to the middle. This is visible every time the shot changes from long to close-up. Light spots do not move depending on the position if the viewer. The only way a light spot changes is if the light source changes position or the reflecting surface changes position (try reflecting a flashlight beam off a mirror and then, leaving the flashlight and the mirror alone, move around. The reflected spot of light will not change position).

Emancipation - S5-E8

Continuity mistake: At the very beginning, House walks in and puts his cane on the table on top of Thirteen's papers. She picks it up and moves it away, placing the bottom end on a stack of books. Cut to House and the cane is now flat on the table. (00:02:55)

Show generally

Factual error: In an episode with a severely overweight patient who is thought to have diabetes, it is discovered he instead has Chagas disease. Cameron then informs the patient that he acquired this illness from his food when, in fact, Chagas disease is a protozoan that is spread through the bite of the triatomine bug.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: While the main vector for the infection is through the triatomine bug, Trypanosoma cruzi (the parasitic organism that causes the disease) can be transmitted through food, and thus Chagas was caused by the food the patient ate. It should also be noted that Trypanosoma cruzi is not transmitted by the bite of the triatomine bug, but rather through its feces, and it's only spreads once the feces enters the blood stream (which it can do through a bite site or scratching an open wound).

Forever - S2-E22

Character mistake: House says to Chase "I've got a dead baby for you to biopsy." A biopsy is a test performed on tissue from a living patient. He should have said 'autopsy' - the procedure performed on a dead person to determine how they died. House, as a doctor, would know this distinction. (00:32:45)

Airborne - S3-E18

Continuity mistake: When Wilson and the team are walking and stop in front of Fran's room, you can see Robin lounging in a chair in the background. In the next shot, Robin is gone.

Runaways - S8-E10

Continuity mistake: The runaway has an attack when her mother shows up and coughs blood on the table. There is an emesis basin at the far end of the table she throws up on. The shot changes twice and now there is FAR more blood on the table and the basin has moved to the middle of the table. Before the first shot change, Taub is reaching for the basin, however, after the change he is moving away without enough time to move the basin. The shot changes again and the patient is now in the bed with Adams holding the basin under her mouth. There is not enough time in that shot change for her to move from the foot of the bed to in the bed.

It's A Wonderful Lie - S4-E10

Other mistake: At the end, before House's "realisation" the camera pans out and shows a street light when House and Wilson are outside talking. The lamp top is covered with fresh snow. It's been dark for sometime. The heat from the bulb would have melted snow had it actually been real.

The Itch - S5-E7

Factual error: When Dr. Cameron's agoraphobic patient goes into cardiac arrest at home following the surgery, she tells House to get the paddles ready. House, while performing CPR is talking on the phone with the patient's lawyer, informing him that patient has PEA (pulseless electrical activity) on the cardiac monitor, but Dr. Cameron defibrillates the patient anyway, restoring the heartbeat. Defibrillation is not indicated for PEA, it will not restore the pulse and might send the patient into vFib.

All In - S2-E17

Character mistake: Dates on a former patient's file indicate a birthdate of 04/24/24 and an admission date of 02/04/94 (an attained age of 69 yrs 9 months 11 days); House subsequently refers to that patient as a "73-year-old woman." (00:06:19 - 00:08:37)

Dr. Wilson: Is there a light somewhere that goes on when I have food?
House: Green for food, orange for beverages, red for impure thoughts. That bulb burns out every two weeks.

Joy to the World - S5-E11

Trivia: This episode contains another reference to Sherlock Holmes. Wilson tells the (fictional) story of who had sent House a present. Wilson says it was one of House's first patients called Irena Adler. He then explains that House had feelings for the patient, but did not take it any further and therefore regards her as the 'woman who got away'. Irene Adler was an adversary who bettered Sherlock Holmes - the woman who got away. As it happens, the fist patient House treats in the pilot episode is called Rebecca Adler.

Occam's Razor - S1-E3

Question: I apologize I guessed at the episode, it was the one which featured Brandon, the boy who had the pills mix up and had sex with his fiancée at the beginning. I'm a little confused as to the ending, what was the significance of the letters on the pills? Why did the two doctors make a big deal about it when Brandon told them about it? Why was House so pleased to find those two pills in the inventory? It seemed like a sudden end to me.

Answer: You have the right episode. The big deal at the end about the letters on the pills was to show that Brandon had the wrong pills all along. House was smiling because he was right.
